I have a big huge question and was wondering if any of my friends have a answer. We went to Chicago to visit family this past weekend, and Wilson came along. My niece has a Boston Terrier cute dog , but when wilson saw him he turned to me and put his head in my lap, He was telling me please do not make me visit with this dog around. We kept Wilson outside and was playing with him, Kelly took Murphy out on his leash I kicked a soccer ball, toward Wilson but unfortunately to ball rolled near Murphy and Wilson was close by and Murphy Attacked Wilson's face Wilson is okay, but Wilson did scratch Murphys eye and Murphy is okay also. We Pulled them both apart and made sure they were not near each other again. This was on Saturday.

To back track again last July 4th the same reaction, BUT when they played in the neighbors fenced in yard where their was more room they got along.

Now my brother brought over his Doodle Sasha and Wilson and her got along beautifully, wilson even gave her kisses but Murphy snarled at Sasha . This was sunday

So what is up with Boston Terrier's not liking Doodles or is it just being that they are large dogs.

I am curious we will not be seeing Murphy for awhile they live in Ohio. but next time it is a bet we keep them away and on Sunday we did keep Wilson and Murphy away from each other.

Terriers are particularly difficult with other dogs.  I have a maltese terrier and he can be a bit anti social.  I think it's a size thing.  They see a dog that's bigger than them and they decide to pre-empt a confrontation.  With my guy it's definitely fear because he gets on fine with my daughters dog who is a long haired mini Dachsund who is a passive gentle little guy.  It's very hard to tell what's gong on in their minds.

I would say Murphy had an issue with Wilson in those situations...not that all Bostons don't like Doodles. But it could be that he was on leash as Lucy & Sophie's mom says and he is not comfortable in close environments. Was perhaps defensive/resource guarding the ball...etc. (if the dog on leash is only aggressive on leash it doesn't matter if the 'OTHER' dog is off or on leash...same thing).

Just a thought I'm tossing out, but in this particular case, the Terrier was leashed and Murphy wasn't. Seems we have talked about leash aggression but don't remember if it has to do only when both dogs are leashed.

Could be a terrier thing. I like Jane's idea of walking them together.

Who knows! But I will tell you my cousin was in town with her cairn terrier this weekend - Clark has met Peri (my mini doodle) before and he will not have ANYTHING to do with her. He growls at her - even when she is in the submissive position on her back - she just rolls right on over. Who knows...... And Peri is the just slightly bigger than Clark....Terrier thing???
