Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
If you pay close attention you will notice, our seasons give us “signs” they are changing. Even though March 20th marked this years “official” Spring Equinox date, many regions needed additional weeks for the temperatures to catch up.
It’s April now and we can finally see new growth. In our little neck of the woods, it’s time to cut the grass…
This is the same analogy I used when I explained to DH that Leo’s season had also come! He was entirely too hairy…
Perhaps it’s a “man” thing (any male readers out there, please share your comments), and you all prefer the “bigger” dogs to have that “bigfoot/sasquatch” wilderness look. I can relate – up to a point - until it starts to get out of control.
Half the time Leo couldn’t see what was right in front of him, and to me, it wasn’t fair…
So I did what any good DM (Doodle Mother) would do – I waited for DH to go out of town and drove Leo to the groomer…
Now you tell me, doesn’t he look happy?…
It had been so long since I’d seen his face I had forgotten just how beautiful and pensive his eyes were…
Even with shorter hair – which makes daily grooming maintenance a breeze – I am still not a tremendous fan of doodles in the backyard while the lawn is getting cut. They run, they roll and yes they slide behind DH and the mower. They literally change colors right before my very eyes – like dyeing Easter eggs in a cup of hot water with that little green tablet! When it’s all over I end up with green and white doodles!
But who I ask, who can deny this face from the upstairs window?…
A natural slope in our yard creates a “utopia” for them to lose their ever loving minds…
And as always they have the best times when we are all together…
The emergence of the spring season seems to supply me with a new surge of energy. I love how it lifts my spirit. Gives me a sense of hope, like a new beginning dawning. Harley – my “I can see fine from here” city doodle…
…felt the “magic” of the suns rays and got swept up in the fun and frolic…
He pranced around proudly wearing his green mustache too…
Leo’s new “do” is almost a week old. DH has adjusted and accepted the “warmer weather” look. But you know to me the hair seems to be growing back already…
April 26th is National Pets & Kids Day – so do something playful over the weekend, even if you just sit with your pets or kids and wiggle your toes in the grass. Grab a hold of Springs energy and do something fun!
Not sure what we’ll do, but whatever it is, I am positive The Boys will make it memorable….
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your spring!

such great photos ! How you manage to keep them so clean and fluffy boggles me!
I too decided it was summer hair cut time - even though we had snow 2 days ago.... more because coopers fur was so long it was too much of a pain to brush!!!!!
What a lovely haircut and what a very handsome dog!
That's what I'm talking about - DM's unite! I do think I will let Leo's hair get a tad bit longer on the bridge of his nose - I like that look on him too, but just not as long as we allowed it to get before. Do you keep your doods short in the summer or all year long?
Fresno - I'm so jealous. Let me know how you spent your day!
Thanks for reading!
Oh, I just realized it was Harley with the green mustache!
Leo looks very handsome in is new "do" and also in his green mustache! LOL Spring, green and warm air puts me in the best mood ever too! Nothing like the spring! Thanks for the cute blog and the reminder of National Pets and Kids day! We will plan to do something here in Fresno too!
