Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

One year ago today - I wrote out a check, putting me on the wait list for an Australian Labradoodle Puppy.  Little did I know where the journey to that puppy would lead.  We had moved to FL the year prior, our beloved Lab - Bougart had died and with DH working out of state - I was lonely.  I finally told dh that I was either getting a boyfriend or a dog and that I would let him pick, he picked puppy.  I had only ever seen 1 labradoodle before but I had fallen in love with that teddy bear look.  After seeing an ad in the paper, and a horrific visit to a local BYB, I researched and found the perfect breeders (2 breeders that work together).  I spent tons of time talking with the breeder on the phone and hours looking at their website.  Ohhhh I was in puppy lust bad.  I wrote that check one year ago, then a week or so later I traveled to both of the breeders homes to personally meet and visit with their dogs.  I was approved as a future owner and I knew just what type of puppy I wanted.  A medium sized (40 ish pds - not too big, not too small), male, cream with a big ol black nose - nothing else would do.  Those of you that know what Rooney looks like can see where this is going - lol.  One year ago, I took the first step in a process that would change my heart forever.

Jane, this is truly the exact feeling that I had making our choice...we ended up with exactly the opposite of what we thought we wanted, a chocolate labradoodle. Daisy is a goldendoodle and was chocolate with white paws, you see she is not chocolate anymore.

Daisy is another Joy in my life that I just can't explain.

Jennifer - what a darling story on how you came to have Chloe!!!!  I'm laughing that now she won't play fetch - ha ha - got ya on that one.  My story of the journey on the way to getting Rooney will continue as we go through the summer, there were many twists and turns along the way!

Wow-Rooney was very lucky that you have an open mind and a big heart!

Congrats! Time does go by so fast. I was always a cat person growing up, my parents were divorced and my dad always had dogs after that. I never was attached to them, maybe because they were not MINE? So anyway 4 years ago Kmart had a sale on Bounty paper towels and I had double coupons!! As usual our local store was out of the sale item so we ventured to the next location. Bought 2 large packs of bounty (never knowing how handy they would come to be) thn walked across the parking lot to the pet store (DH's idea) we went in there and I saw Chloe playing with a ball, she played fech with me inthe store. I never knew what a goldendoodle was or what she would like like grown but she was a mini so that helped. I stood there for a few hours holding her and playing with her and she fell asleep on my shoulder. I told DH that I am not leaving the store without her! We had to rescue her from that place! It was her 2nd day there and her brother was already gone, I don't know how I did it but finally we put a nonrefundable deposit down and the next morning he still didn't say yes, SO we got in the car and I drove and we went puppy shopping!! (he still didn't say yes) He said let's go back and look at her. I said lets go back and bring her home! SO that's what we did on Memorial weekend 4 years ago I learned what it's like to love a dog! I still have my cat and he's 12! Then Myla came along ( I had to cry for real for her!) So I guess Chloe should have been called Bounty if it wasn't for their sale somebody else would have my baby right now. Oh...by the way-she doesn't EVER play fetch, she will chase it and chew on it but NEVER bring it back to me. She was putting a cute puppy show that day and now everything is done her way! Congrats Jane!!!
