Everything was fine at the beginning. 5 dogs were hanging around off-leash. One dog came to me and I petted him for a while. Then I continued speaking on the phone.  The dog was still siting by my side. Camus came to me from the other side and when he came close enough, the other dog snapped and at the same moment I raised my arm and it was right between Camus and the other dog, so the dog bit my arm instead of Camus. The diameter of the wound is not big , but it is pretty deep and there was quite a bit of blood.

The sad part is that the other dog was a doodle. But that's not the saddest. The saddest was the owner, who didn't offer any help,  who didn't say he was sorry and just said "My dog didn't bite you, there was no fight, it was an accident" and when I asked for his phone number just in case I have an infection or get some complication related to his dog, he yelled at me 'Do you want to sue me?' and started saying stupid things like I don't know the phone #, I can't see it on my phone screen, etc. That part hurt more than the bite.

A very nice lady who was there with her lab brought iodine and some bandage and band-aid from her car and helped me.

Yup, dog bit you.  Owner's responsibility.  You should call animal control--if only because there's a procedure for these things, and you never know if this animal has been a problem before.  Probably not--probably just your arm in the wrong place--but still.  And, yes, see a doctor and update your tetanus.  (Although the only bit I ever received that caused a problem was from my cat--doctors worry much more about cat bites than dog bites!)  Good luck, and I hope you feel better.  Getting bitten is always a little scary.

It really does sound like an accident, but I can't even believe how rude the other owner is.  I hope your arm feels better.

Oh H NO! Seriously... people suck!!! I would have told him had he been sympathetic and apologetic you would have let it slide but since he feels the need to be nasty and rude, maybe you will look into SUING HIS A$$!!!

What a jerk! I'm sorry that happened to you.

I hope your ok. The owner should have been cooperative

Honestly, since YOU were bitten I think you could have actually called the police....I know things happen, but when an owner isn't cooperative (especially after their dog bites a HUMAN), that is a huge problem and that owner is lucky you didn't take things further!  I would see a doctor just in case.

Please be careful with that bite, iodine while it stings is not a good antiseptic.  What a dreadful thing to happen.

Whether it was an accident or not, you were bitten. How could anyone not apologize and offer help? Ba@#$%*. I would have the wound checked and make sure your tetanus shot is up to date. A good detective, and we all are in this day and age, could find out the owner's info. if you need it. Other owner's may know something or if he were seen again a license plate could be obtained. Was this in a dog park? I don't go anymore.

Accident or not the dog did bite you - and the owner is liable for any costs, etc.  This is yet another reason that I MUST get a house with a fenced in yard - there are just too many bad owners out there.  I hope you are o.k.
