DH and I have been married for 7 years and have no children. We just aren't ready to even try for them yet, we're still young (got married as "babie") and still having the time of our lives without kids. That being said, we treat our two dogs like kids. They are spoiled and very well taken care of. DH does the best job taking care of our pups, he is the one that lets them out in the morning and he is the one that (usually) feeds them in the afternoon. He is also the one to take our doodle girl for her daily run.
So, yesterday I decided that he needed a fathers day gift...even if he doesn't have any "human kids", lol.
Am I crazy?!? Don't answer that...lol.
I picked up a gift card to our (new) local Mast General Store- DH really likes the place and is always wanting something from there.
I signed a Happy Fathers Day card "love the dogs" and then gave it to our doodle and said "take that to dad"...she ran straight to him! ha! It was cute :-)
It was, obvsiously, covered in slobber...but he appreciated the thought.
This weekend we're going to spend time with my dad...camping!
I grew up camping and adore being outside in the wilderness...this will be the first time we've taken our doodle caming though, and I'm a bit afraid.
I'm more of a middle of the woods, on top of a mountain, with no one else around...kind of camper. My dad, however, is dead set on us camping at an actual camp ground!
I'm bringing a long cord so Molly can run around the camp site while secured to a post, I'm bringing her lots and lots of toys to keep her happy, and I'm also packing her bark collar just in case. We're going to set her crate up in our tent and hope she doesn't bark during the night...she sleeps in her crate at night at the house, but she can't see us from where her crate is. I'm excited for her to experience camping...it's one of the reason I wanted a "big" dog, to take camping and hiking...but I'm nervous that she might be overly excited and want to run wild- meeting and introducing her unwanted self to the other campers in the area.
I'll update on the adventure :-) Wish us luck!!
I will say, I'm starting to like her "naked" look. We even took Ali in today (not to the same lady that cut Molly, but to our normal groomer) and asked for him to be shaved down! I've only had him shaved completely once before, but even then we left a little mohawk on his head...I think both dogs will appreciate their new cuts while we're out in the "wild".
Happy Fathers Day weekend DKer's!!!
