Picture of the event of a flight of mercy. These two dogs were in a shelter in Ontario, Or. Brad, the pilot with his plane flew from Portland to Ontario, Or. to bring them back to Portland on his own time and expense! I just met the plane, and have them overnight. To be picked up tomorrow morning by their foster dad. They are both great dogs with unfortunate events that happened beyond their control. Rory's owner passed on, Harley's owner had to move out of state both ended up in a shelter in Ontario! The pilot really liked Harley, the black one and wished he could take him. But family situation prohibited it. Brad had to fly in very bad conditions to get them here! He didn't want to fly above the bad weather, as not to put the dogs through undo stress in altitude. It meant longer flight, but he got them here safe and sound! In fact after they landed and the dogs were out airing, he opened the plane door and Harley tried to jump back in! He was ready to take off and go again. Rory, slept most of the trip. I want to thank the DRC for all their planning and work involved in this. Liz, Adrianne, Christina and Brad Milligan. The Doodle Rescue Collective works hard to save as many Doodles across the US as humanly possible! If you can support it would be very welcome!! Right now Harley is asleep on the cushioned lawn chair, and Rory is asleep on the deck. Will be putting them in their crates shortly . Hope everthing works out for the both of them, they deserve a better life! It is so great to have dedicated people with a common goal, save our friends when in need!!

C - I just love this!! I know you jumped right in and arranged your day in order to get them at the airport after their 'flight to freedom'. Sad that black dogs are euthanized first as the are supposedly unadoptable!!

We also thank Riley for allowing Rory and Harley to borrow his Dad for a little while!!!

TY Pilot Brad! Another selfless human that helps out those who desperately need it!!!

How Liz was able to pull this off was just amazing! Thanks Liz - you outdid yourself again!

Christina - I hope your pup is doing better!

Dick - thank you for fostering these 2 boys!!!

Just got off the phone with Dick Parker. He is coming over in about an hour to pick dogs up. Really sounds like a great guy. He used to live down the street from us, so knows exactly where we live.

Dogs have been great. Kenneled them about ten last night in the garage. I woke up a 4am and went down stairs to make sure I heard them if they got fussy. Not a peep out of them, got them up a 8am. Aired, watered and fed. Put them back into their crates, as it was raining a bit. Got them out at 11am. They are in the backyard now, waiting to be picked up. These dogs are good dogs. Harley is more outgoing. Rory, a little tenative put once he trusts you is fine. Riley went out last night with them, and all three where romping around.

Harley has something going on with his left ear. He let me put some solution in it, and then swabbed it out. Must of helped as he isn't shaking his head like he was. Both are real skinny. Scarf their food. Kim, at the Ontario shelter said to go easy on the food for awhile because of their surgery. Really, hope all works out for them. They both are GREAT!

The shelter where Harley and Rory were left is a kill shelter; owner-relinquished dogs are in the greatest danger of being euthanized, as the shelter does not legally have to hold them for any period of time to allow an owner to reclaim them. A shelter employee told us that they have had 12 doodles there over the past year.
