The intelligence of these dogs is quite unnerving:

At about 6 months he worked out how to lift the catch on his pen.

Very soon after me got a new child gate, he realised that sometimes it doesn't get shut quite right and if he can just get his nose under the latch he has the freedom of the house.

And now he has graduated to he washing machine...

he can squeeze the door handle in his teeth and pull it open...

after a couple of times of finding my clean washing spread about, we put a child lock on....too easy., chewed through that and then opened the door

and now he seems to be able to steal my knickers or DS5s socks without disturbing the rest of the load....

if only I could teach him how to hang it out...

So guess what I want for Christmas?   A new dog?

So this dood not content with being able to empty the washing machine has now worked out how to get the washing off the line.

He has discovered that he can body barge the line prop out and that then all his favourite knickers and socks are within reach......

Of course he chews the toes out of the socks, but I wonder whether I could get him to put the rest of it in the washing basket ready to bring in????

Wow, that is smart! Hudson also has a love for underwear and socks, but thankfully he hasn't figured out how to get them out of the dryer or washer. You don't want a new dog for Christmas.... you want a years supply of new undies and socks. :)

That's sooo clever and cute (I get to think it's cute because it's not my stuff getting stolen out of the wash!). I had a foster (Harvey) who greatly preferred to drink out of the powder room toilet and if I put the lid down he would wedge his paw under the lid and use his nose to lift it.

What a fluffy little genius!  Cocoa's sock fetish has actually become quite helpful- my boys all leave socks lying on the floor all around the house... and every morning after a potty break Cocoa inspects each room of the house in her official capacity, collects all of the socks and places them in her bed. Lucky for me she is a very thorough girl :)

Oh yeah!  I want to see video!!  We had a Golden Retriever years ago who move about the house, picking up everybody's socks and undies from their respective bedroom floors.  We'd walk into the living room in the morning, and not only would they be on the floor, they'd be separated into piles according to owner!

HILARIOUS!  You need to put up a video camera - I would love to see the washer act!  I have to agree with Karen at least his fetish is for clean undie's :-)

You're right these doodles are awfully tough to outsmart!!  Maybe you should ask Santa for a top loader!

What a smart doodle! Just be grateful that he prefers clean undies. I had a dog who liked to steal soiled underwear. If you're going to have unmentionables strewn about your house, it's definitely much nicer and more fashionable if they're clean!
