Doodle's first swim...kind of!

Bernie just finished up with all his shots about a week ago, so it's been a big tease walking along the water every day - for us both! Well, he was being such a good boy on our walk today, calm, responsive, I decided to introduce him to the water. Plus, being about 70 out I knew he'd dry quick if we ran around for a bit when we were done!

It was so funny! If anyone reads this I'd love to hear about your Doodle's first water experience!

At first Bernie was scared of the tiny waves crashing up, the tide was coming in. He'd sneak up to the edge, then jump back. But I managed to get on a rock a few feet out and of course he wanted to follow me. He trotted out high kicking with his front feet - like a Lipizzaner - and every time his big puppy paws plopped into the water he splashed himself, which made him jump and shake his head because he didn't understand why he kept getting more and more wet! I was laughing so hard!

My husband missed it so he wants to go again tonight and I'm bringing my phone so I can hopefully catch the same act on video.

Haha, thank you Ricki! And yes, Bernie was ready to swim after his stick, poor little guy! My husband promised him we'd go back this Saturday. And that's so cute Tara enjoyed it too! Bern occasionally watches Dog Whisperer with me and it's so funny to watch his reactions - he also LOVES the Beggin' Strips commercial.

That is SO cute!! Bernie looks like he would take off swimming if he had enough line!! :) I watched the video twice today with Tara on my lap and she couldn't take her eyes off of it!! Her head kept tilting back and forth!!! I think she enjoyed it too!

By the way, someone else's voice always turns up on the videos of me speaking too!! I HATE that!!! LOL!!

Finally got a video up on my page, unfortunately it was his second time on the beach so he was a lot more confidant compared to the first time - still got a little high-stepping in there though. Poor guy wanted the stick so bad but my husband was in jeans and sneakers!

Anyone else hate their voice on audio?! Ick.

Amy, I'm sorry if I missed a discussion on this, if you posted one, but is Marley's car sickness due to stress? If so, maybe the fun trips will work! Other than when she's in cars her tummy's okay? Have you tried a bully stick or something "special" to keep her occupied? That worked for Bernie too, it also keeps him from trying to get in the front seat! On our longer trips (more than 15 minutes) we put Bernie in his crate to start. It's a pain bringing the crate downstairs, etc. but he immediately laid down and did his normal 'crate routine' even in the car. Just a thought. I'm rooting for you guys!
