Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Since we moved into our home 2 years ago, there has been a BIG pit of sand in our yard.  The previous owners had an above ground pool that we asked them to remove.  For some reason I thought there would be fresh, green grass below it.  haha

Since two years ago, I've been constantly asking my husband to 1. dig up the sand, 2. lay fertilizer, 3. lay sod.

Since two years ago, DH has been saying ok but there has been so many other things to fix and do in our house that he has never got around to it.

What stressed me out the most was the Zoe would go outside, romp around int he wet grass, then romp around in the sand, dig, play etc. and come back into the house.  Leaving behind footprints in the house for me to clean up almost every single day.  Well... now it's X2!  Ben is usually really good and won't go into the sand if we say NO...but once in a while he will see Zoe trying to be mischievous and follow her lead.

Fast forward to this week.  I asked our gardener to 1. dig up the sand, 2. add fertilizer, 3. lay sod (no idea why I never thought to ask him before).  He's even installing sprinklers in that area!!!  I am so excited!  Last night I went home to a large mound of fertilizer in that area of my yard.  I was so annoyed that he didn't finish the job in one day and the only thing I can think of is that Zoe and Ben will have a field day in the dirt!!!!  ANyways our gardener said he would finish throughout the next week.  GREAT!!!

This morning I took them out.  Zoe immediately rushed into the dirt.  Ben tried to follow but I made him come back inside with me and got him on a leash.  We went back in and I gave Zoe a foot bath (our usual when she gets into the sand).  After their breakfast I took them on a long walk so they would be tired and not want to run outside.  Got ready and before I left for work I said to DH, "don't forget to take them out on a leash if they need to go outside!"

at work now...

incoming text from DH-- "Omg!!! The bears are awful!!! I had to give both of them a bath because they were rolling around in the dirt...like BURYING themselves in it!"

uhmmm okkkkk...

my text to DH-- "Why did you let them outside???  DIdn't I say to take them out on a leash???"

DH--"I was going to but decided to keep a close eye on them.  It was working at first but she is so sneaky!  She pretends she's not going to that side and then BOLTS for it!"

me-- "haha yes she's super sneaky"

DH-- "She was smiling at me while she was rubbing her face in the fertilzer"

HAHAHAHA all I can think is... tsk tsk tsk you didn't listen to me.

Great blog!

Uhm Doris, Can I trade Owen for Bodi please. Owen is a dirt magnet... well he goes in search for it to be perfectly honest.

If there is a dirt, a cream colored Doodle named Vern will find it :) He would love to play at your house. Fudge wants no part of it usually!!

Haha!!  But I must clarify - not All doodles love dirt.  Bodi wants NOTHING to do with it!! (one of life's many little blessings!)
