Well it's day two. Today it was Guinness who got up at 6:00...he wanted us to let his brother out of the crate so they could play. DH took them out to go potty and then they "joined me" in bed. Have you ever been licked to death by two Doodles at the same time while you're trying to sleep? Doodle tongues all over my face....very wet Doodle tongues. I figured that was my "cue" to get up.

I used to wonder and worry a little about whether I could love a new dog as much as I loved Guinness. He and I had such an amazing bond. I knew I would love any dog, but I wondered if it would be with the same intensity I felt for Guinness. Well that question has been answered. Last night I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and the boys were laying on the floor right next to me. Murphy was sound asleep and he started to have a dream...a bad dream. He started to tremble and cry in his sleep. Guinness quietly got up and went over to him and softly licked his face. The puppy woke up for a minute, looked up at Guinness, and give him a little Doodle kiss back. Then they both went back to sleep. This whole thing just melted my heart...it was one of those amazing moments in life. I felt such love for both of them...and that love was equal and perfect.

Double zoomies....I hadn't even thought about that before. Last night it happened, and it was a sight to behold. I couldn't stop laughing as these two "clowns" zoomed around the house until their tongues were hanging out and they just couldn't run any more. It was wonderful.

Yesterday we trained sit with Murphy. This is the first of a series of reasons "why two Doodles are better than one" (for my friends who are trying to convince their DH's). In less than an hour Murphy was consistently sitting on command. Why? Was it because of my fabulous training techniques? Nope, he was watching his big brother. I tried it again this morning to see if he would remember. He did. He sat patiently and waited for me to make their breakfast. He copies pretty much whatever Guinness does which I'm finding is a huge training "leg up".

Today is bath day for the "little one". He has his Vet appointment tomorrow so I want him to look (and smell) wonderful. It should be interesting. I'll try to get pictures or a video.

That's it for now. I've got to get some things done to get ready for the "birthday bash" tonight with the grand kids.

Uh Oh Karen. Don't you have two children? I do and wondered the same when I was about to have my second and lo and behold he was a keeper too.

Substitute "Jack" for "Guinness" and this could have been written by me. Because of you, I'm thinking about revisiting my decision to keep JD an only child. But just thinking, lol.
Are the pinking shears included in your party preparations? Maybe Murph can teach Guinness that dressing up is fun!
I'm just thrilled for all of you.

Great point about those zoomies. I never even thought about that. It might not be as cute when Murp is 50 pounds and the furniture is "flying".

Jane .... your paragraph about loving a new puppy pretty much sums up what I have said all along about my girls "I can actually feel them in my heart". I never dreamed I could love a dog so much!

Sounds like all is going well .... just one thing to keep in mind with the zoomies. As Guinness is small, you gotta remember Murphy isn't going to be so small so you sort of have to watch those zoomies, or he will be knocking over furniture in a few months. Zoomies x 2 is a whole other story!
