Hard to believe that Ember has been home with me now for over a month. I cannot imagine life without her, she is SUCH a joy. She's also growing like a weed and is 20lbs+ per the last vet visit.
Here's a little about what Miss Em has been up to...
(Flinging toys over the top, "rearranging" the ex-pen, maybe it's more feng-shui this way??)
1. Puppy class - She is the largest of the class and plays non-stop. She is working on learning to take a break when another dog needs to rest. She did earn a huge, collective "wow!!" from the class when the trainer that thought that Ember didn't really know the "sit" command and asked me to say it without moving or having a treat... which of course she sat her cute little butt right on the ground! She's a smart cookie.
2. Tummy troubles - we've had some ongoing tummy troubles that I've written about before. She went onto a 5 day series of antibiotics which helped but didn't fix the issue and it returned a few days later. They found nothing in multiple fecal samples. The vet was stumped (and really unhelpful/unsupportive to a stressed out new puppy mom, I might say), but put her on a 7 day series of antibiotics which has seemed to kick whatever it was plaguing Ember's stomach. SO thankful. The breeder was fantastic with her support, which I'm really grateful for.
3. Socialization - now that she is all done with puppy shots, Ember has been able to go lots more places and loves it. LOVES IT. She loves each and every person she sees. Today at PetSmart she met the largest German Shepard I have ever seen and was so curious. Adorable. She also got her Halloween costume, and is NOT thrilled with me AT.ALL.
4. Boarding - I had to be out of town for a conference and my family was out of town at the same time, unfortunately. Ember went to the place where she does puppy class and soon daycare for 2 nights of boarding. Word on the street is she did fantastic. She came home today and is exhausted. Photographic evidence:
Even though my life with Ember is chaotic and crazy lots of times, I wouldn't change it at all. I'm so happy to have her and find such joy in that wagging, adorable tail. I have been following the discussions and posts on DK (esp the Puppy Madness crowd!!) and have been thankful for all the useful dialogue!
