How easily we forget how time consuming a puppy can be. I swear, I can't remember Fenway being like this. Although Dustin is one of the most mellow pups I've ever encountered, he sure does know how to get in trouble and he has a set of lungs on him that an opera singer would be envious of. I remember Fenway not liking her crate very much during the day, but she would quiet down pretty quickly. Not Dustin, he screams and screams and screams. He will finally settle down and immediately drift off to sleep. At least he's not doing that at night anymore. He also seems to be in constant need of water. He can't drink enough of it, which means we can't take enough potty breaks :) I can't count the number of times I go up and down four flights of stairs! He's also the hungriest little doodle. Fenway never was and still isn't a big eater. She eats enough, but there are feeding times where she'd just assume not eat. Not Dustin. He'd eat her food and his too. He has figured out where we keep the food and will just sit there and whine. You can tell he doesn't miss a meal by his size, but he won't let you forget that it's feeding time and sometimes even whines for a midnight snack, which he doesn't get. Crazy puppy!

Fenway has become quite the wonderful big sister. She plays more gently, tells on him when he's getting in mischief, and is doing so well with her commands with the puppy distraction. I'm such a proud Momma! The only negative thing is Fenway can't seem to leave Dustin alone even to sleep unless I put her in a stay so she has to leave him alone. She really is like a little Mother hen. Can't wait for Dustin to get through these puppy stages and be like Fenwy! Wishful thinking I know, but we can always dream right?

Well dogs and humans are certainly a lot alike. My boys eat more than my girl (though I know this isn't always true). And even though my daughter is younger than her brothers, she takes care of them. She refers to them as "her boys" and when they cry or get into trouble she rushes right in. Sounds a little bit like Fenway and Dustin!!!! They are adorable. Thanks for sharing.

Nights stink! I've been trying to take him out at 12 or so and last night he actually made it to 6. I was so happy. The first night he howled like a banshee and Fenway rushed right to his side every time, which I'm sure helped reinforce the howling. That luckily has diminished (at night at least). I have high hopes that he might make it all the way to seven tonight. We'll have to see. All I have to say is I'm so glad I'm on spring break and not having to go to work the morning after a new puppy night. We'll see how I function next week!

Hi! This is so much like Murphy and Jaxon! He eats like a little pig and she grazes whenever. I had to put Murph's food up to keep Jaxon from eating both! I really believe there is a personality difference between boy and girl doods! Jaxon was much more fiesty than Murphy.Sounds like Fenway knows to be gentle - they seem to sense those things. I haven't read all your blogs so you may have talked about this, but how are things going at night? That seems to be the hardest adjustment - getting up every 2 hours for potty breaks! Wish you guys didn't live on the other coast - I'd love to meet you and your doods!

sounds like you have your hands full! I am so happy to hear that Fenway has fallen right in routine with the new puppy. I hope Kensi is a good big sister like Fenway (when I finally get my second dood).
