First Grooming - Hold on to your Hat....It's SHORT!!

Chase had his first hiarcut today!! His coat was lovely, but was gettting to be such a challenge keeping it mat free. After much persuading, my husband agreed to let me get him clipped. After talking with the groomer, we decided it would be good if we could get away with having him done twice a year - great. But, this means taking him right down!! He looks so funny!! I asked her not to shave his face, so she left some hair there but now I think that looks funny - too much like a Schnauzer, so we may trim that after a couple of days deciding!! His coat is so so shirt, but velvety soft. She said he was very nervous, but did really well. He was frightened of the dryer, so we have to work on that. We got a lady who comes in a specialised truck right to your house and does the whole thing there on the driveway - no leaving him in a crate anywhere - awesome!! My husband, who is at work, it not so sure about it though, I juse e-mailed him a couple of pictures and he's not too happy!! (But, he isn't the one who has to brush him for 2 hours every couple of days!!).

Here is a before and after shot!!

We just did the same 10 days ago, from one state to another:

Penny is just 6 months old, and this is her second trim, I prefer her looking scruffy, but as you say the upkeep is hard, and they do feel gorgeous when cut short, and it does grow back doesn't it? We too think they left too much on her face. Chase looks great, and I'm sure your hubby will enjoy just as much.

I love it!! My baby Guinness is 5 months old and I have been delaying his first hair cut - (also have to space out the cuts cause I have 2 doods to take to the groomers now) but with the winter months coming, and the snow that sticks to their legs, it is much easier. Guess I'll book an appt.

He is just gorgeous. I'll bet he is very soft. I like the long look too, but there is a time when you have to give in and clip them short. It grows back and there will be a day when he gets older you will not have as much trouble with the matts and will be able to let him a little longer.

I LOVED the feel of a freshly trimmed doodle. (Like chenile sooooo soft). I wish I could do Abby again and Kaela for the first time but now I have to wait, winter is here and they need the fur around these parts in winter. I think he looks great!!

OH he LOOOKs incredibly velvety. That's the one benefit to that short cut (even if you aren't in love with the look)...doodles are SOOOO soft and you can't stop petting them! He looks cute though =)

He is so soft and velvety. My DH is worried he will be cold - winter is on its way, but I think it will have grown in a bit by then. If we had kept him long it would have been a nightmare in the snow. It is funny to see him so skinny!! We would really like to keep a bit of length to his coat, maybe about an inch. So, maybe one day I'll get brave and buy some clippers so we can try and do it ourselves!! I was really happy with the groomer though, she was great with him.

That's how I cut Fozzy too in the summer,( and once his coat starts blowing it could be all winter long) and trust me it grows out very fast. I love the way their coats look when they are real short, Fozzy's was about 3/8" and it looked like crushed velvet! We got a lot of comments about how cool it looked.

Chase does look good. That's how I get Yankee cut for the summer because of the heat and swimming.
