So, it was only like 30 degree, but decided to take a first hiking of the year!! During the spring and the summer, we hike through many of the beautiful Pennsylvania state parks. Since we have not been walking for log time, we took the easy paved hiking trail today. The place we went is called Roaring Run Trail and has some historical story about the canal being used in 1800's to ship coals reducing the shipping time from 3 weeks to 4 days.
Well, in the beginning of the hike, Pinot was sniffing the side of the trail and grabbed something into his mouth!! He is a big fan of deer poop, so I thought it was that, or someone else's poo. I managed to get a hold of his mouth and held it down words, and plop came out was a fist size plump piece of organ of some sort!!!
"EEEeeWW!!" I screamed into the hollow air..... There were no carcass of any kind in sight, though.....This thing as prertty fresh, like it just came out of someone or something.... Ewwwww.....
I kept thinking some creepy thing , like "Do I need to call 911 or something..?" " What if it belong to someone and rest of the body was dragged into the river..?"
So I spent next one hour walking and feeling creepy.
Once we turned around back towards the car, it was my pay back time for Mr. Pinot Grigio for this plump organ incident!!
There was a man ahead of us, and once we got close to him, he decided to move to the side to let us by. I could tell that he was an older man from behind, but once he turned around, we saw that he has this very full and white Santa Caluse beard, large black sun glasses, and white ski hat on. With his face pretty much covered with the white beard, sun glasses and the hat, Pinot was totally freaked out, trying so hard to distance himself from that side where man was standing !! Hahahahaha!!! He got himself tangled up on the leash in the process!!
Charlie girl was great with no barking / lunging incidents, and was well behaved!!
It was still a bit cold, but we had a great first hiking of the year....

Quite the adventure!
I loved the title, the photos, and the adventure!
I never thought that this title can sounds dangerous.....lol...
My thoughts about this organ was that eagle or some other bird had it from remote location where the carcass was, and got too heavy ( It was pretty big ) and ended up dropping it there....
I can't even tell you what I thought when I read the title of your blog !!!!!! Stay away from those Santa Claus men :)
When I read the title I was dearly hoping that "organ" referred to a musical instrument! No such luck. Sounds like a strange day all around, but it has been that kind of winter. Good work staying calm Charlie!
When I got home, my son said " What if that Santa Clause man had something to do with that organ, mom...? Can I get you a mace for your hiking..?"
Yeah, with the Santa clause man, Charlie would have been the one to freak out, but she was just calm..... amazing.
Sounds like you started the hiking season off with a bang! That adventure is going to be hard to top! It's great to hear that Charlie was so relaxed-wonderful!
