"Franc" update! Our (new) love is here to stay

As Ella and Louie so beautifully sang:
Its very clear, our love is here to stay
Not for a year, but forever and a day
The radio and the telephone,
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies
And in time may go
But, oh my dear
Our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long long way
In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay..
So "FRANC" (nobody likes Frankie but I dont' want to change it too much - actually not sure if FRANC is better) ( another blog)  Franc and Quincy spent their first full week together with a wonderful dogsitter who owns the pet spa we take Quincy to.  She stayed here with them and took them to her shop which does also do daycare.  We got wonderful reports about how they are making their way through to ultimate brother hood.
Now that we are home for 24 hours, I agree.  Quincy is still "on guard".  I think there was probably a little regression once we were back so that Quincy was again showing the new guy who is boss.  That settled in today, to a large degree.  I was upstairs on our bed and Franc came up and put his head on my shoulder.  The Quince then appeared and nudged ( okay pushed) France off my shoulder and came in for his own licks on my cheek.  Yikes, all this doodle slobber, I could really do without most of the slop.  But they work it out, with Franc bowing to Quincy more often than not.
We were a bit concerned with the wrestling mania that goes on.  I looked through old posts here, and honestly I get the impression that Doodles like to growl and tussle.  I look for a wagging tail, and so far so good.  I do stop flat out humping, which they both do.  If nothing else, I don't like the esthetics......
FOOD- we separated the bowls, but Quincy is still a bit dominant.  When I saw poor Franc licking to beat the band at  Quincy's porcelain ( and empty) bowl, we wound up giving him some more kibble to Franc and keeping Quincy at bay.
So we are well on our journey to two doodle - dom.
Franc was not abused in the sense that he was hit or not cared for physically.  But I really get the sense that his prior owners just knew that the were not, and could not, meet his doggie emotional needs.   Credit goes to them for realizing it and finding Frankie a good home.  I know it does not always work out that way so we are so very happy it did for Frankie, Quincy and us!
I realized how powerful rescue is from DK.  I wanted to be a part.  Frankie is a kind of white bread rescue, but we are still so happy that we have, seemingly, made him a happier doodle!

Congratulations on your addition...he looks so handsome!  I see this is an update, but I don't know where to find the beginning... guess I don't know where to search.  Would like to know the "whole" story!  Have fun.  Our rehomed female doodle Elli settled in after about a month.  The girls had two startling "disagreements" that lasted seconds...that was in the first week...none since thank goodness.

I'll be very Franc with you, this is really awesome.

To me, all your 'tails' sound really normal for a two-dog household.  We you aren't there, I am sure they are best buds. As my mom would tell me--Your household is fine when you are not here. When you come home, the ply for attention begins and it all gets chaotic with your kids and pets

Everyday a bit calmer, even in play.

Congrats.  I know that all of you will be very happy!!   We have four and the "play" (which looks a lot like fighting to me) is apparently part of the fun.  Like you, I watch how they act.  We have a rule that no one is allowed to touch anyone else's food unless they walk away.  If that happens, it's fair game.  They can stare but not touch. Amazingly enough, they caught on very quickly and never go to another's bowl until they walk away.  They learned quickly to get a drink of water before starting to eat :)

When I got my second doodle I thought I would never see the day when they would just settle down together and not go wild playing and jumping around--it took about two weeks--and now it is easy peasy to have two--one is a bit more dominant but the other does not mind giving in, so that makes it even easier...Franc is lovely--beautiful face!!
