I have never seen such beautiful doodles, that is other than the ones I already have, ha! Hunter is tan and Ziggy is a black doodle . . . now I would love to have a chocolate doodle. Doodles are the best dogs in the world. Does anyone know where I can get a chocolate? I love large dogs - mine both weigh 64 pounds. I live in Indiana.

I was told that they are more likely to fade if they have a lighter coloured parent? Hartley was from a chocolate lab, and a white poodle that gives chocolate puppies. But, as his dad is white someone told me it will make him fade. He started as a light chocolate and does bleech in the sun. He will probably end up being a cafe, but we haven't had enough sun this summer!! Chase, the new puppy is going from dark chocolate to ginger!! (Just like Mickey, Adrianne!!)

Breeders can usually tell if the chocolate will fade based on the parents' color genetics which there are tests for. Although within a litter there might be some that fade and some that don't.

I got very lucky with Samantha - she came from a pet store via BYB in SD. She does not shed, (F1) and the coloring on her head is just incredible.
Our 1st foster, Mickey, F1b, came from the AH Puppy Mill - he has HUGE feet, very curly hair, he seems to be getting 'orangy' colored large 'patches' all over. The sweetest little boy.
If you want to adopt, go to Petfinders - that's where I found Charli, the little black girl in our lives.

I just got a chocolate puppy so I would like to know that too. I doubt if anyone can predict what they will look like as adults. I was like the rest of you.....had to have a chocolate. Not sure what I will want next but DH would be hard to convince this time.

I am amazed at the color variations in the chocolates. They seem to start out so dark and some stay dark and some fade and even get such wonderful color blending! Can any of the coat color changes be predicted or is it always a pleasant surprise?

Well you are not advertising so you are fine. Just wanted you to know that you'll have to seek out the breeders as they won't come to you. But I don't care if owners share about where they got their doodles. There is also an 'Owner Recommended Breeders' group in our groups section...worth looking into. AND if you look at the puppy sales groups, in the instructions there is a link to an article titled 'What to Look for In a Breeder'...at the end of that article you'll see a list of other sites that have breeder lists.

Thanks Adina - That is a good rule. Sorry, I didn't know about advertising but appreciate the links.
