Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

While my 2 doodles are not service dogs, I was amazed this last weekend when we took them camping at Brown County State Park in Nashville, Indiana. I have a broken ankle and my doodles got on each side of my wheel chair and pulled me through the park like a trained mule team. It was like they automatically knew what to do. I know they are smart, but this was amazing. It was also great to see 4 or 5 doodles in various colors and sizes, camping in the park with us. My dogs have an electric fence (live in the country) and when we go camping, they will not go outside the campsite unless we coax them and take them. Who could ever ask for more loveable, smart dogs!!!

I think Doodles just "get it". That's a lot of doodles in one place. I have only ran into a schnoodle and I know that there is another GD in the neighborhood. I think California doesn't have as many LD's or GD's as the mid west or east coast. We're catching on though. :) Here's to a speedy recovery!

Dogs are such intuitive and empathetic creatures. Sure sounds like you have wonderful pups! Hope your ankle continues to heal quickly!
We have not camped with our pup yet, just some day hikes. We're hoping to take her hiking/camping this fall. Any suggestions?

Hi Michele - Thanks for commenting. I got a walking cast this a.m. and I'm already feeling better getting out of my bright pink solid cast that I've had on for 4 weeks. Now 3 weeks in this one. Your doodles are great. I really want a red or chocolate one but I already have a tan, black, and 1 dalmatian that is 13. Your log home looks beautiful as well. Gee, guess I want everything . . . another doodle, a log home, a fixed ankle . . . guess I should be oh so thankful for the wonderful dogs I have and thankful my ankle is healing. I dislocated the bone as well, and it wasn't a pretty sight. Do you camp -- probably a dumb question if you live in a log home and in West Virginia. Keep in touch.
