Mike and I started walking about three miles each morning with our dog, Gordon. If you have a dog, you know that if you do something twice in a row, you’re in a pattern. If you have a dog, don’t start something
with the dog if you don’t plan on doing it for the rest of your life at
exactly the same time of day and in exactly the same way.

The first few mornings were fine. We were into our new exercise routine. We even looked forward to it. But after a few days, our joints and muscles started to get a little tired, and we thought maybe we
should take a day off to rest.

The day we decided to take a break from walking, I woke up in the morning and sat at my desk. About the time we would usually be getting ready for our walk, I heard a rustling noise behind me. I turned around
and saw this:

Ignore him, I thought. I turned back and tried to go back to work, hoping he would go away. That’s when I heard the annoyed little grunt. I turned to see from where it came.

I turn around and try to go back to work. The back of my neck starts to feel hot. I think Gordon is actually staring lasers into the base of my skull. I hear a little foot stomp, coupled with yet another grunt. I
ignore it.

It gets quiet. Thinking Gordon must have given up and lay down, I turn to sneak a peek.

I sigh. I know I am no match for his dog-will. I decide to give in and go for the damn walk. Glowering at him, my hips already aching, I ask:

Do you want to go for a walk?

What’s that Mommy? A walk? What a novel idea. Why yes, I would like to go to a walk. Thank you for thinking of that, I never would have come up with it on my own.

It has been 12 straight days of walking. Mike and I are tired. But what can you do with that face staring beams of pure guilt straight into your soul? I can only pray for rain.

That is so cute! Love the expressions! I need to get Rua to get hooked on walking to help me exercise.

What a darling guy! No one could resist him. Gordon really cares about your health. At least you will be in great shape.

It's a good thing I am alone in the office having lunch...... I am laughing out loud at what I knew was coming as I scrolled down to each picture!!!!!

This is why I WILL NOT start a morning walking routine with my two. I absolutely vary the times I take them and where I take them. Without a doubt I would have TWO acting the same as Gordon, you should see them attack my DH when it is dinner time. You have my sympathy Mike and Amy.

I can barely sleep in past 6am as my two lick my face and lay half way on me to remind me that breakfast or something fun should be happening if I am in bed this late.

Funny story and SO true!! I have to agree with Nancie, Tara is also more invigorated in the cooler, rainy weather so good luck with THAT!! I'm looking forward to reading your blog about "walking the Walk Nazi in the pouring rain" !!! LOL!!

Oh my gosh, this cracked me up. It's so hard to say no to them isn't it?

Oh I know that look...I get it every afternoon. DH does the morning walk and I do the walk/play in the afternoon. Don't you just love the head cock when you ask a question and one of their "buzz words" are in there? These faces are priceless and there is absolutely NO WAY you can ever say no to them. We even walk in the rain but only when it is a drizzle. Gracie Doodle is most invigorated when it is drizzling on her. Talk about a bad hair day...her poofer parts down the middle and flattens out! Down pours we do not walk but a rainy day Doodle will pout a lot! Keep up the walking. Take a Motrin and it will get easier. Soon, you won't even feel the aches and pains any more and you will see changes in your physical looks and well being. Gotta stay young and fit for our Doodles!

I really starting to get worried about all the people saying rain won't matter. I've been clinging to that hope for nearly two weeks!
