Today we said goodbye to a dear friend: our beloved border collie, Cass.

Cass had been fighting a good fight but the bone tumors took over her body and quality of life. We were originally going to wait another week but Clark realized today was the day. She got her favorite meal of a cheeseburger and fries before we said goodbye. We buried her along with Thule's ashes this evening.

Cass joined Clark's life nearly 15 years ago and had been a most loyal and devoted friend. She was the dog that turned me into a dog lover and helped me see that keeping a dog indoors was not insane, but the best way to keep a dog.

We were truly blessed by having had Cass in our lives.

She was a Good Dog.

My heart goes out to you at this very sad news. Having a precious pet for this long is so heartwarming and brings to us the very best of life. How wonderful for Cass to have had you as a "Mom", and also, how beautiful for you and your family to have had Cass to share your lives with. I am sure you will miss her terribly. My hope is, that one day, we will be reunited with these precious pups. I lost my Lucy the day before you lost Cass. She was a 14 year +7 month old Beagle, and the apple of my eye. R.I.P. sweet Cass and sweet Lucy.

Losing our pets is like losing one of our family... we mourn and cry and miss them terribly. They have a permanent place in our hearts - and one day the memories will go from being painful to bringing a smile and warmth to your heart. My thots are with you.

Adina, my first introduction to the social forums for Doodles was the love story of you and Clark, Cass and Thule.
And, I often think about that when I visit DK or any of the forums...and always with a soft smile and great joy.
Cass was a good dog, and Thule too. If you and Clark have a favorite photo of the two, please send it to me for the Memorial page of the Doodle Messenger and your words of remembrance. My Posi is there and it gives me a great sense of peace to look at him and remember him there among other lost friends. Posi was at my feet when I first met you and Clark and for a long time after. I know the bond lasts. Am thinking of you and Clark my friend.
