Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I can't believe it...I have been watching all the reports of the Doodles getting sick and everyone is having trouble trying to figure out what is wrong with them. Now, this morning Gracie (who likes to sleep in late) jumped off our bed and came limping down the hall to the kitchen where we were sitting. I immediately had her lay down and I checked her back paws and pads for some type of injury or something stuck in her paw. I was decorating the tree last night and thought maybe she stepped on an ornament hook. Nothing. Then our neighbor did it a bit more aggressively and she cried when her second from the outer left back paw toe was pressed. We took her to the vet and they think either a sprained or broken toe! She is there now where they were going to make her sleepy with pain medication and then x-ray. That was three hours ago and we are still waiting for the call. They are also going to x-ray the entire leg just as a precaution. Fingers crossed it is just the toe!
What the Doodle is happening to all our babies? Great way for everyone to start the holidays...huh?
UPDATE - Gracie Doodle is fine!
Gracie Doodle is home and asleep on our bed. She has pain medication with they gave her mainly so they could do the x-ray rather than go through the IV and shaved leg thing. There is no fracture, foreign object or knee problems. There is always that fear that there could be a tear in the knee or heaven forbid, cancer! Clean bill of health so we are thinking a sprain or tweaked toe. Slow leash walk for a week and no chasing her tennis ball, running, jumping or leaping...all of which she does. That is probably how she did it. She was running around in the dark last night and probably did it then. Thank you all for your love and concern for her. These Doodles are very very special to us all! One big happy family!!

I am glad Gracie has a relatively good diagnosis and will soon be up to her old tricks.
I am so glad that she is OK!!
I'm with Karen on this one! I'm so glad I didn't see this either until you posted an update! I'm so glad it doesn't appear to be anything too serious! Poor Gracie! Hugs to you both Nancie!
I am so glad I didn't see this until after the update was posted! How scary, Nancie, I'm glad they didn't find anything serious. JD and I send hugs and kisses to you and Gracie and we hope she'll be back chasing tennis balls very soon!
Nancie, I got a sick feeling in my stomach when I first saw this. I am glad that the x-rays didn't show anything serious. The Whitefield pack is sending lots of virtual doggie kisses Gracie's way.
OMD Nancie! My heart dropped when I saw this! But so glad they didn't find anything serious! Love and hugs coming to you from all of us here!!
xoxo SRB:)
I'm so happy it sounds like a very good situation. take care.'
Whew! Great news like this always brings a greater appreciation of a healthy doodle. Rest up Gracie Doodle and let that toe heal up!
Glad to hear that Gracie's doing okay. With all the zooming around these doodles do, I'm actually surprised that they don't get little boo-boo's more often!
Phew, Glad to hear she is ok. what a scare!
