Phoebe is eleven months old today.

Jess had a great day. He is steadier in his static standing and moves around a little more easily. He is still pacing himself on his walker walks, and added weights today. Weeks ago he handled a rigorous weight program, today he worked with two pounds. The funny thing is, his form is so good, you would think he was working with twenty times the weight. He is happy to be advancing and really motivated to get stronger.

One of the docs told him he may be home by the weekend. His surgeon wanted to try to see if he will qualify for in-patient cardiac rehab so they can keep an eye on him a little longer. Jess is still on a little Milrinone, and will be completely weaned off by Thursday. Since this is a heart assist medication, I would be happy with him staying the additional week if insurance will allow it. His surgeon also told him that he could "stay the same, get a little better, or get worse -- then we'd be looking at a transplant." Nothing like a little more cheer after feeling good all day.

As much as Jess would love to get home to his Hobbes and Phoebe doo, he feels that being watched for the additional week would make him more comfortable. Me too.

I am posting a canvas I painted to honor my Phoebe. (the woman waving is my mom!)
Happy almost 1st birthday to my Phoebe doo!

Love the painting Janet! I bet that was a nice release of energy for you =)
Jess is doing so well...I'm so inspired by of both of you and your strength.
Do you think he'd be up for a visit from a therapy dog? Was thinking it might be comforting for him to pet a furry friend...and there has to be a local therapy team from either Delta society or TDI..I'll look into it if you want.

Is therre no end to your talents?!?!? Your painting is just fantastic!!
Happy almost Birthday to Phoebe!!
There are reasons that surgeons become surgeons - most have no social skills. Jess' is a prime example of how NOT to speak to a patient and their families! Thank goodness his hands speak pearls!!

Since they are talking abut discharging Jess (fantastic news!!) have they made arrangements for home PT, OT and a Home Health Aide?? They will need to get auth from the insurance company and find an agency with the staff available!! This is what my company does. I will send you my cell # in a private message. PLEASE call me so I can help you make sure you are getting all the services Jess will need at home!!
Have a fantastic Wednesday!!
