I'm not sure if non-rescued dogs technically get Gotcha Days, but to be honest, I feel really sentimental looking back at our year together, so I wanted to celebrate Ludo's Gotcha Day.

I documented much of his puppyhood here, but it truly feels like every day, we grow closer and I love him more and more and more. This summer, we got our CGC certification and we're going to be heading into a therapy training course this spring.  For much of his puppyhood, I really wasn't sure that he'd be cut out for therapy work, but honestly-- I have no doubt now that he'll be outstanding.  He has rounded out beautifully.  He's friendly, gentle and calm.  He loves everyone and is SUPER smart (not that I'm biased or anything).  I think he'll love it. One other big change, and it couldn't be more welcome-- he's turned out to be a cuddler!!! Until about a month or so ago, he was happy to lay on the other side of the room and was content to be "around".  I actually would lure him onto the couch with treats only to have him hop off when the treats were gone. Now, he cuddles in bed, he lays with his head on my lap on the couch and grumbles at me to come sit with him on the floor sometimes.  He really has turned out to be the most perfect dog for me.

One cool thing that we've started doing-- just this week-- is having him trot with me while I bike.  We're limiting this to a half mile at a time and I'm riding really slow, letting him get used to it. He absolutely LOVES it.  We've been walking twice a day, about 2 miles per walk.  He was getting plenty of exercise, but he isn't always worn out by that.  I bought this attachment and it keeps him far enough away from the bike so he can't get too close to the wheels. Would totally recommend it.  I think it is both a mental workout and allows him to go a bit faster than when we walk.  It's also awesome to just have another activity that we can do together.

So that's really all that's been going on.  He's an absolute dream and I am SO happy and lucky to have him.

I can't believe it has been that long!  Happy Gotcha Day, Ludo.

Happy Gotcha Day (a little late) hope you both had a great day together.  Ludo sounds like a wonderful companion, so glad you found each other.

Congrats on Ludo's Gotcha Day!  I think of course you deserve a Gotcha Day.  Its the beginning of your wonderful relationship.  I'm so glad he's a cuddler.  For me, that's a big part of why I wanted a dog.  I'm sure Ludo will be an outstanding therapy dog.  Kudos!
