My engineer DS suprised me on Mother's Day by coming home. But he had to fly to Houston that afternoon. So...would I keep Kona (the 6 month old, 60 lb Weimaraner) until he got back on Thursday night (for my graduation).
Did I mention he didn't bring a crate for Devil Dog? Murphy has a soft sided crate that she immediately ripped through. She spent yesterday at daycare but didn't seem tired at all when she got home. She devours her meals in about 30 seconds.
She spent today at daycare and she still did not seem tired when she got home. (sigh). She inhaled her dinner and was ready for play. The neighbor kids were fishing in the back yard (mostly attracting alligators) so I kept her inside while I talked to them. When I got inside she had moved the sofa against the wall (about 3 feet) with what I can only assume were very enthusiastic zoomies. Murphy's crate was upended and there was stuffing from some poor gutted animal all over the room....and its only 6pm.
As I was sitting down to dinner with a friend (steak and baked potato) someone else showed up at the door. We both got up to talk with him and moved outside. When we got back inside, both plates were absolutely clean and Kona was still chewing on a bone. (Murphy was hiding in what was left of his crate.) She already has digestive issues so I can only imagine what tonight will bring.
I found myself telling Kona the same thing I used to tell my youngest ADHD son: I love you when you're sleeping.
Happy Mother's Day?

Oh my, I am not looking forward to 2 weeks in September when we have our DD and DSIL boxer Lily....I see my future in your present!
Good thing today is Thursday!
Thanks for all the support. LOL I am getting a hardsided crate today from a coworker.
On the positive side, she is totally housebroken (pun intended) and did not get sick from everything she ate last night. She is spending tomorrow night at day care because I can't get back from New Orleans in time to pick her up. (awww...)
Murphy did act out a little on Monday. He gave me a card for Mother's Day which I left on the counter.
When I got home he had shredded my Mother's Day card, leaving all the evidence in plain sight.
Guess he wasn't too happy with his Mom.
