There are thousands of pet stores online and various kinds of crazysales dog beds for sale in the market. You may be overwhelmed by those options out there. According to my experience, the most concerned issues on the dog beds are quality and duration.

Which kind to choose

Generally, there are three popular dog beds you can easily find: orthopedic dog beds, heated dog beds, and dog cots. Orthopedic dog beds are mostly said they are the better choice for old dogs or dogs have joints illness, because this kind of bed has subtle designed shape and high-quality wadding that won’t be too soft or too hard, which makes your dog comfortable and is supportive to the aching part. Then as the names indicates, heated dog beds can warm your dog up in the cold days. Normally this kind of bed is thinner than others, which may lessen the level of comfort, but you can put extra clothes on it to make it snug. The last one is dog cot. This kind has no traditional wadding in it. It looks like a small trampoline, and crazysales dog cots are made of more durable materials.

Where to put beds

Many people love setting dig beds beside theirs. It is good for bonding you and your dogs, meanwhile you can avoid their scraping bedroom door or constantly calling you at night. Or you can put the bed in the drawing room, but not close to the toilet, because you don’t want your dog sleep near droppings, right?

How many

For basic needs, one for resting in average days and one heated bed for winter should be enough. However, just like orthopedic dog beds, there are some beds designed for dogs of different needs. Some professional stated that when your dog suffers from illness, the owner should buy a special bed to protect the injuries or prevent exasperation.

We are just now, for the first time, replacing Daisy's bed. She likes the bolster beds and does not like too much cushion...we chose the LL Bean Orthopedic bed that is most like the one that is being replaced. She is very particular so fingers crossed. We have only so much space in our bedroom. and in order to have a night stand we have mismatched ones or the 2 more inches would not allow Dex to sleep next to Daddy which is just not acceptable to him.
Dexter would love to sleep in our bed, but Daisy will not come up so in order to for us not to get the stink eye from her Dex isn't allowed either...though he does quietly come up in the early hours and we do not prohibit that.

I think if we got "floating nightstands" both doodles would be happy to sleep next to their favorite parent under those. I am looking for those currently.

I have several beds that came from petco. They have memory foam in them, they are round but have a side or "bolster" so that they can snuggle down into the bed. I find that in the summer I have a couple who will only sleep on the cold tile floor of the bathroom. As the weather get cooler, they either take a spot in my bed or they sleep in the round beds in my room. All the dogs love them and even some children that have visited my house. They are comfy and kids like to lie in them and watch TV. Or even take a nap...Lol!

I had made some quilts for my last dog that Picco has inherited.  All the dogs I've had preferred non-cushy beds and I'm not sure why. I have a cushion for the kennel but when I bring it out they always ignored it and didn't have a choice in the kennel. The quilts or blankets gives them their "spot" and easy to take along on visits/trips. I have a couple in the house - bedroom & home office and if we put a quilt or blanket on the floor he thinks its his spot and rushes to it.

I wonder about heat and softness when older but my last dog still would rather lie on the hard floor or carpet.

Great post. I have three dog beds: round from Costco, kong pad for his crate, and coolaroo for training place and platform training. His beds are all in the living room or the vicinity. He likes watching tv. I live in Florida so nothing heated.

I have so many different dogs beds in our home. Our 115 pound Vern sleeps in a too small bed some nights. That bed was purchased for Fudge who never sleeps in it. Vern also goes from bed to bed to bed each day messing up the covers and then moves on. Most nights they end up in bed with us. I have the most expensive bed from Orvis and some cheapies from TJ Maxx, but I don't see that they prefer one over the other. Vern's Coolaroo bed may be his favorite, but just for digging and rolling, not sleeping. Go figure!

I don't think my dogs have a particular preference as to sleeping arrangements.  They sleep everywhere and move throughout the night from our bed, to the stairs, to the tile floor, to dog beds.  Our dog beds are the cheapest we can buy - cedar chips.
