I am sooooo proud!! My 11-year-old daughter Ava and Hunter on the FRONT PAGE of our local paper the South Summit Leader :-) Of course I am not biased or anything but it has to be the cutest front page EVER!! One of my very good friends, Peggy, is shown with her Shih-Tzu Latte - she was the chair person for the event.

Dogs strut stuff at costume parade

NEW FRANKLIN — “Howl-oween” was celebrated by some furry friends Oct. 30 at the Bark in the Park Dog Halloween Costume Parade at Portage Lakes State Park.

Dressed in her finest princess costume for the occasion was basset hound Roxie, shown at left with owner Andy Koslowski, of Coventry. According to her owners, Roxie is part of the Doggie Brigade at Akron Children’s Hospital and is one of four basset hounds owned by the Koslowskis. All of their dogs were dressed as royalty for the parade.

Also parading that day were Ava Shuber, 11, of New Franklin, and her dog Hunter, a golden doodle, pictured at right bottom.

According to the Friends of Portage Lakes State Park, the parade is helping to fund the creation of a new 5-acre dog park. The parade’s chairwoman, Peggy Bergholz, of Coventry, is shown at right top with her dog, Latte, a shih-tzu.

The event also featured pet photos and vendors as well as entertainment by the Dock Dogs. For details on the dog park, call 330-644-2220.
