I think what I am going to start doing is keeping a blog!
Let everyone know how Hurley is doing and his vet appointments. The thing is, I want everyone to know how he is doing and what is going on. If it wasn't for this website..Hurley would not be on The Doodle Messenger. if it wasn't for the outpouring of love for Hurley, he wouldn't be getting donations for his surgery.
It's amazing to know that there are still such compassionate and caring people out there. I am always the person who helps out other people. It makes me happy to help others. So me asking for help is new for me. I had so much information coming at me and didn't know what way to go when it came to Hurleys cysts. I was completely lost. This website helped me out in so many ways.
Everyday I wake up Hurleys cyst are looking better. The antibotics that he is on are really working! He can't have surgery until the infection is gone. I will know more on April 24th. Dr. Genovese,I hope, will give us a date for surgery!
Today, I let Hurley out to run like crazy. I took him to a field where the kids and him can go nuts. I don't worry because there are no other dogs or people around. I took a picture of them today. It's on our photo page!
Around 5 today me and the kids are going to Hurleys favorite dog park and hand out flyers we made. It has The Doodle Messenger website on there. I am hoping maybe just one person will check out the website!
My kids have been helping out..Natalie has been drawing pictures of her and Hurley and signing her name on the flyers. My son is going to help me hand them out. I want them to see the overwhelming support we are getting! It shows them that this world is still full of love..and there are a lot of people pulling for Hurley!
What a learning experience this is for them and me too!

I love this blog idea, Regina! It sounds like you had a wonderful day and I am so glad to hear the antibiotics are making a difference for Hurley. It sounds like you have great kids as well as a great dog with their involvement in finding help for him.  Keep up the good work!

Wow!! Such great ideas!! Tonight we went to the dog park and talked to quite a few people! I gave out the flyers and a couple of people walked put to the car to meet Hurley! They said they would check out the website and blast out the link through their Facebook. I have a TV news anchor that lives in our neighborhood. We see him quite often and he is super nice. Well today I wrote him a letter and a copy of Hurleys flyer. I put in his door. When I came home I saw he was home. I am hoping he reads it and is interested! I would love to have Hurleys story out there. I just am so grateful to all of you for donating to Hurley! Also the people who can't donate...they are helping with getting his story out there, praying for us and giving some awesome ideas! Thank you!!

In Jewish Schools they kids are taught to help others in many ways. The Jewish tradition of Tzedakah began with Torah, and continues today as a testimony to our commitment to justice.  Tzedakah means more than “giving to charity.”  The commandment to give is a kind of ingenious cognitive tool, training us to interact and help as a community member.  We give to causes that are worthy, to our synagogues, and to others less fortunate.  Some of us give to Israel, some support environmental causes, some assist the homeless, others give where their heart directs them.

How about contacting the local Churches and Synagogues and ask them if you can bring Hurley to class and explain about doodles and his illness. Maybe the kids can find ways to help raise funds for his surgery. This is a way for them to really see how their fundraising can help, in person, watch Hurley go through the treatment, pray for him and see the fantastic results I know he will have. He can be their mascot and watch him grow over the years.

Regina this is such good news for you and Hurley.  I love the idea of the flyers too.  Did you ever think of contacting your local TV station?  Most of the stations have human interest stories about animals, and I think Hurley's story is one of great interest.  I bet they would go for it, and imagine all the others that might benefit from this....Just a thought.  So glad that this story is going to have a wonderful ending...I look forward to all the good news about Hurley from now on....Hugs from your friends here in florida...Cheryl & Oliver

Way to go Regina, you found your way here and things are already changing for Hurley.  Why don't you set up a Facebook page for Hurley and a Twitter account too?  You can update your daily posts on both and post pictures and you can also add the links to the doodle messenger.  Using Social Media to tell Hurley's story will I am sure help to bring in the funds needed. If you are making flyers you can add in the links to the FB page and Twitter account as well as the Doodle Messenger.  Including your children in this will be good for them too as they will feel that they are fully involved.

So glad to hear the lightness in your voice...And so glad Hurley is out "being a doodle" with his people!!  Keep us posted and what a great idea about the flyers...I would also check with PetSmart/Petco and others in your area to see if you could put them on cars in the parking lot on the weekends
