Yesterday was a total washout with the “outer bands” of Hurricane Matthew. This fickle hurricane did not follow the predicted path of turning East and looping to the South. We were battered with very gusty winds and torrential rain Saturday and Saturday night. The rain finally quit this morning. The total rain fall from the storm was 7 inches at my house.
View of the weather through the kitchen door.
Haley does not like to go outside in rain and wind. He finally HAD TO GO POTTY badly enough to do it last night just as we had lost power and DH was at the garage trying to get the generator in all this nasty weather. I put Haley’s snow suit on him let him out and tried to watch him from the back porch. When Haley finally came inside most of him except his back, hips and upper legs were drenched.
At bed time I put his snowsuit back on him and remembered the hood which we had never used.
A mostly dry doodle came back from this potty break.
Running the house on the generator.
The trailer and wheelbarrow were used to cover the parts of the generator that needed to be rain free.
Matthew exiting the area.
I truly feel for all of those who really got socked by this hurricane.

Thank you for the photos. I am glad you are alright. I don't think I could get any kind of rain/snow suit on my boys because I didn't start when they were young. I don't know how they might handle Matthew weather. They don't seem to mind rain or wind, but I live in drought ridden Southern California.
So glad you guys are okay and poor Mr. Haley-what a trooper! Although he does look awfully cute in his snowsuit. It must have been a relief to take that picture of Matthew exiting!
Hi Anne! Boy you guys really did get a lot of rain! Good to hear things are back to normal! Haley looks so sweet in his snowsuit!! Mine go out whatever the weather, I just have to keep a stack of towels ready at the door!
Wow - what a hurricane! So glad it is over and you can get back to some normality. Being on the West coast, I have never experienced a hurricane of any size- what I saw on tv was terrifying! The power of nature is just incredible at times. Love you photos of Haley. Charlie will do his business in any weather, Beau will try to hold as long as possible so his feet will not get wet!
Good to hear you made it though the storm(s)! Poor Haley, probably wondering when he's getting indoor plumbing.
Stella – Thank you. I wouldn’t say Haley is a prissy poodle type doodle but he does not like to go out when it is raining hard and does not step in puddles.
Laurie – Thanks. A whole house generator is probably in our future. We do not have natural gas in our area and have to use propane. One of the neighbors (a farmer) has a WHG. Otis was talking to him yesterday and found out that he uses the same propane tank for running the corn dryer as he does for his WHG. His generator ran out of gas because he forgot to check the tank after drying corn!!!
Glad to hear you are safe. Poor Mr. Haley We broke down this year and got a whole house generator. It has given me such piece of mind. Fudge and Vern will go out in any weather :)
