Yesterday was a total washout with the “outer bands” of Hurricane Matthew. This fickle hurricane did not follow the predicted path of turning East and looping to the South. We were battered with very gusty winds and torrential rain Saturday and Saturday night. The rain finally quit this morning. The total rain fall from the storm was 7 inches at my house.

The other day I got a "friend request" from Cheryl which I of course accepted wondering what it was all about. Immediately I found out that she was going to be visiting family not too far from me and wondered if we could get together on such short notice.

Saturday I knew something was going on when Mom started organizing her camera stuff and then she started packing a cooler. Boy did I get excited. Then she got my seat belt harness and put it on me and we were off on an outing. Of course I was so excited that I didn't pee before getting in my car and Dad stopped at this boat landing and I relieved myself.

I have been following with interest about taking your doodle to Lowe's/HomeDepot. Haley has mostly stayed at home when we are going to Lowe's because my DH didn't think he would be allowed inside the store. When he has gone I have to stay in the car with him. : ( A few weeks ago I was talking with a Lowe's employee and asked about dogs coming inside. She said people do it all the time (although, I have never seen a dog in the store when I have been there).

When I took Haley out for the third time this morning to poo (first two times were failures) we had been invaded by a huge flock of seagulls. They were in three of the fields surrounding my property. Friday was one of those days when it is hard for me to go outside for any period of time. It was overcast and drizzly. The dampness causes every joint that I have ever injured to ache. This meant Haley wasn't going to get any fetch in. Instead I gave Haley a bath.

Last night a long line of thunder storms set off by an approaching cold front passed over us. As they were approaching Haley started getting upset so I got the Canine Calm and applied it to his beard, ears and chest. This works good until the thunder is real close and he will just lay down beside me. The thunder got real close and Haley tried to climb in my lap (all 60+ pounds of him). Sunday morning my Dad goes to town and brings home Sunday news papers. While he is gone Mom gets their coffee ready and sits on the floor with me for some quality time while waiting for Dad to get back. Then they have coffee and read the paper and I have a GOOD chew on my skineeze!

The Canine Calm (similar to the Travel Calm in Nancie & Gracie Doodle's blog Anxiety and Car Sickness") that I ordered came last week.  Haley had his first chance to try it out on his thunderstorm anxiety yesterday. We had thunderstorms all around us in the afternoon and evenng.  I applied the Canine Calm and it seemd to help him quite a bit.  The only time he had a reaction to the thunder (except for lifting his head up off the floor or his pillow) was when one clap of thunder occurred…
