I feel like a bad mommy

Hercules won't take his pain meds, but he knows he won't get fed until he takes them. I feel like I've just tortured him because I fed Zeus and Hercules laid on the floor watching ... and drooling. I've tried over 15 times to get him to take his pills, but he won't do it. He's so good about taking his cancer treatment meds, but not the pain meds - I guess because they're tabs and not capsules like the other meds. He's whined four times for his dinner, and I keep grabbing the pill pocket and offering it to him, but he just snares at me - yah, teeth and all. So, I'm just sitting here ... waiting for him to let me know when he's ready to take that one lousy pill pocket. I know he must be starving right now, but if I give in, I'm afraid he'll stop taking his cancer meds also. It just breaks my heart that my baby is hungry and feel like I'm a bad mommy for not feeding him.

Trying putting some peanut butter or cream cheese on the pill and see if that helps. Also, I don't know about dogs, but I know I can't take most medicine on an empty stomach or I feel sick. Just a thought...sorry! I have never had a dog that did not scarf that pill pocket down, so I am at a bit of a loss, but maybe PB or cheese will do the trick. I wish you luck and sorry you all have to go through this. Also, try searching for how to give a pill or something, because I remember one member (Nicky and Riley, maybe) talking about how she gives a pill. Good luck!!

Can you wrap a pill in cheese, hot dog, piece of chicken, anything like that?  I often try molding cheese around the pill to trick Butter to take it... ( He is on Prednisone ) I think he can smell the medicine, too.....sometimes he would eat the stuff and spit out the pill... Or dip the wrapped pill in some sort of meat juice from your dinner.....I hope Harcules will take his meds, eat dinner and feel better......
