I'm supposed to be Mowgli's boss but I think he's mine.....

Hi everyone! I'm just beginning my doodle journey. I think Mowgli is part Tigger, he's so full of joy and BOUNCE. He is so happy all the time I would very much like to have a sample of whatever he's taking. Yesterday we went to the groomer for a brush and bath, he's only been once before, but he greeted them like he had known them in another lifetime. They love him there. When I try to explain that that much joy can be exhausting they just look at me like I'm a sourpuss. Whatever. Sometimes I question his smarts a little though. Last night he was counter surfing, which is a big no no, but Mowgli is too cool for rules, and he got a slice of pizza. Now any smart dog would hurry and eat that in the kitchen where no one was looking, not Mowgli, he brought that right to the living room and started eating it in front of me! He was so surprised when I took it from him, like I was the one with the problem.

Mowgli jumps on everyone and my grand kids don't appreciate it. He thinks their screams are screams of delight and just can't stop dancing. I feel exhausted when they go home and not from grandma duty but from chasing my dog around pulling him off the grand kids. I've always known wine is good but Mowgli has taught me just how good it really is. I would not have survived these 5 months without it. If this tells you anything he just fell off the couch and he was wide awake!

My other two dogs think he's crazy and continuously roll their eyes at him. But he just assumes everyone and everything loves him as much as he loves them. Life with a doodle is a different experience. He thinks he's human and I tend to agree. I love him so much. He has enriched our lives in so many ways. Even my husband is a huge softie when it comes to Mowgli. He makes life fun!

You're doodles are adorable and sound just as silly as mine :) You're really lucky Charlie only eats his food. Mowgl's favorite thing to eat is bark. Drives me crazy! Today he threw up a pile of it. He's so fast he's like a vacuum. I'm so glad I found this site I love talking to all of you. Now on to the wine!

Jeannie ~ I thought we hit the jackpot with our second doodle Beau.  We rented an AZ condo for 2 months and he was only 4 mos at the time.  The previous tenant had a year old toddler.  I do not think the cleaning people did a great job because on day one he found two carpet tacks, various crayons, paper clips, and it went on on and on over that first week.  I would always know when he had found something because I would hear him on the bed and he would be tossing whatever he had found in the air.  He never once swallowed anything.  He is still suspicious of anything he finds - he will play with but not eat it! Love that boy!  Charlie never eats anything other than his food - he does not want our ever = love that.  Prior to the doodles, I had a standard poodle that ate anything foreign - jewelry, bones, on and on and he had a huge medical file! Yikes  Enjoy that wine -Mowgli will soon be through this stage.  He is a very handsome doodle.

Thanks Linda we are having so much fun with him. I thought we had the counter surfing under control until I opened a can of Chili last night. He was like a bouncing kangaroo! Luckily I caught him before he got it or we would have had all kinds of awful smells while we tried to sleep ;)

My dogs are Tigger and Roo.  And they haved lived up to their names.  Tigger is the only dog that I have not been able to cure of counter surfing.  He just thinks the treat is worth the scolding.  He even will share his prize with Roo, but at least they keep it in the kitchen.  Life is never dull with a doodle around!

Thank you Carol he's hard not to love :) Thank you for the training info. He is in classes and we are training him at home. He's just Exuberant lol. He is learning though. He has excellent recall, knows sit, leave it, down, and he gives great doodle hugs. I think he's kind of hit his teenage stage a bit early. I have a feeling he is going to have a long puppylife and I'm going to drink a bit more wine than I should :) I'm not a lush I promise.

Sounds like a typical doodle puppy to me!  I think you might benefit from checking out Doggy Dan the online dog trainer.  He has an entire set of videos on raising puppies and showing how to become the pack leader.  It is very reasonable.  All videos are right on line and you can send in a question if you have one.  I subscribed for several months and learned a great deal.  I've sent many others there and they seem happy as well.  He is endorsed here on DK and has even presented a live webcam with us here.  www.theonlinedogtrainer.com I believe is the website.  if that doesn't work just google it.
