In the Spirit of DoodleKisses! The End of the Limerick's War!!

In this day and age, when it seems that everyone is fighting, two women came together right here on Doodlekisses. Recently, Donna (Donna K & Quincy) posted a discussion called Limericks Anyone?  I have to say, this was one of my favorite discussions and I went to bed giggling almost every night. What caused me to giggle? Well, I found out there is another member on DK that has the same sense of humor and competitive spirit (maybe even, some would say, obsessive, relentless nature) that I possess. This is hard to come by for me :) I have a sister in law, who is now over 40, and she and I have been playing the game, I Got You Last, since she was in third grade. When she was young and single, I always told her that our will stated if we died she would be getting our kids and my last comment to her would be forever, "I Got You Last." Listen, I never once claimed in my profile comments that I was mature.

Well, I saw the exchanges of Limericks passed between Bandit and Tara, and I felt the need to post a harmless Limerick and all hell broke loose.

Tara, This is BandyBear here

I given the wrong impression, oh dear!

I must mingle

and remain single

Now, excuse me while I go have a beer

I started laughing out loud right after I posted this Limerick and tried to explain to my DH what I had just done. It sounded better in my head, because when I said out loud, "I just posted a Limerick, that I know Ricki is going to respond to because I told her dog, Tara, that Bandy wants to stay single," he just looked at me like my head was screwed on backwards. He said if men in white jackets come for me and want me to wear a very tight jacket, I should do as they say because they are taking me to a place where I can write Limericks about dogs all day. When I said, "Will I be able to use my computer and access DK, because what if Ricki responds and I don't and she wins?", he said I was a nutcase.

Well, sure enough in no time, Ricki did respond. Actually, Suzann responded first, but I don't want to drag her into this..LOL.

Laurie I know what you're sayin'

With Limericks all day I've been playin'

TaraBear says tell Fudge

She's gonna give her a nudge

Unless she stops saying Bandy is strayin'

Soon, Ricki and I took over Donna's post and found we could not stop trying to one up the other. It was important to both of us to have the last word. Again, no one said we were mature. We found ourselves begging Donna to close this discussion, so we could sleep again and stop the rhyming. We started to blame Donna for the voices in our heads. Donna finally agreed to close the discussion at a designated time and left it to Ricki and me to fight it out once and for all in the battle of the Limericks. Behind the scenes, we left comments for each other. I told her she should probably win (wink, wink) because then she could be known forever on DK as Limericki and she wrote me back that she thought we should co-author our final Limerick under the name Lauricki. I have to admit I had a moment of disbelief and wondered if she was trying the old Keep your Friends Close, But Your Enemies Closer routine, but in the end we decided to work together until the next time we decide to meet again. Ricki, it was fun!  So, here is our final Limerick CO-written under the name Lauricki.

Two women on DK who were competitive and tricky

Created a situation that was getting quite sticky

Together they wrote

So neither would gloat

A beautiful rhyme under the name of Lauricki

The END

P.S. Breaking News: Lauricki has been declared the winner of the Limerick War's.  This is final.  Any problems with this decision should be taken up with Donna. She likes all comments in Limerick format.

@ Laurie, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Donna, I am sorry you and Ricki got so carried away :)

It was either close the discussion or find a twelve step program for some participants. I still find myself wandering off into limerick land, but much less often, a few more days and I should be completely recovered.

Adina, You were very smart. The discussion is closed now, because we couldn't control ourselves, so it would be safe now to read the posts.

I didn't realize the major DK history I was missing out on by not reading that discussion.  I ONLY avoided it to avoid tempting myself to spend hours creating limericks!  Glad Lauricki has ended the war.

I can feel your power Laurie!

LOL....I am sorry, I allowed Carol to sway me. I am chanting Lauricki, Lauricki and feeling stronger.

Laurie, Laurie, Laurie!! Don't listen to these naysayers!! They are obviously just jealous of our alliance. I THOUGHT DK was a kinder, more gentle web site. But now I am beginning to wonder...LOL!!

Remember Laurie, there is NO winning OR losing in Lauricki. I understand this is a new concept for us and is going to take some time to assimilate and adjust to all it's ramifications.

Donna...stirring...stirring...
