Just need to share, (or vent) that I have never known a dog to eat as much Non-food items as my Bella. I swear she must have the makings of a hardware store in her belly by now!  I figure most will come out one end or the other eventually, but it's the stuff that will get stuck or perforate that concerns me.  I just can't figure out what it is that attracts her to this "stuff". Plastic, cardboard, sticks, rocks, fabric, socks, underwear, metal, stuffed animals, paper anything, pens, pencils, paper clips, thread, pins, safety pins, cords, carpets, Murphy's hair, her own hair, cotton balls, Q-tips, Rubbermaid bowls, bottle caps, cigarette butts, and last but not least.....her own poop!!!!!

It's not like she doesn't get the best home-cooked food known to doodles, or that she doesn't get plenty of it 2 times a day, or that she is not watched like a hawk all day and night, or that she doesn't have a toy box full of toys that is the envy of all her doodle (and non-doodle) friends or that she doesn't get raw beef bones or bully sticks or crunchy treats during the day.  What more is there to do????

I decided I needed Pet Insurance for this one just because of what she finds to eat. It's not a matter of IF she will have a problem with something not belonging in her tummy, it's WHEN it finally happens.

I still find the poop the worst of it though and have done all the holistic suggestions on DK I could find. I might start spraying her with a water bottle or shaking a can with pennies in it near her if she even goes near her poop. Except that entails me going out to the yard in the freezing cold at night and early morning, waiting for the poop to drop!!!!

Oye, This little doodle is making me crazy!!!

Thanks for letting me vent, and don't worry April, I love her dearly, foul breath and all. (Yuck)

SHELLY~ WEEKS later?  Wonderful... I did read where you are not supposed to induce vomiting to RETRIEVE the object. But it was sooo tempting.

LOL Sue!  You just gave me a good laugh!!   I didn't choose MI, I was born here.  I had the good sense to move away for several years, but came back... Actually I was forced back with my parents when we moved. I was 16...  Now my husband works for this frozen state, so we're stuck for at least 12 more years.   I seriously do need to come visit you!  How's tomorrow??  I wish!  Puppies are coming soon so I'll be home bound for the next couple months.

Oh no, that mouth is not too small for socks as I have gotten my whole hand up to my wrist into her mouth to retrieve things before they are lost in the abyss, never to be seen again.  I am glad you find the humor in this Jane, as I do most times really. We never know WHAT we are going to find her eating next. Certainly keeps us hopping.

Oh Dear God (whoops - Darwin, hope I didn't offend you! LOL)  Rooney will eat anything from the ground, as in outside.  Dirt, pine cones, grass, etc.  - stuff inside the house doesn't seem to be of much interest.  Your stories crack me up!  Maybe his mouth is just too small for socks.

LINDA ~ I have heard of things being thrown up WEEKS after they have been eaten... so keep looking!  Glad it was not a REAL duck! LOL

Well if your Murphy is anything like my Hoover-Bella-with-the-iron-stomach, then it will all come out fine in the end. (Pun intended)

I thought I was so past this. After spending Christmas with my son's new Weimaraner pup, I discovered my home was no longer puppy proofed. After they left on Sunday I thought it was all behind me.

Apparently, Murphy missed her and got bored. He ate the wings and feet off of his new stuffed duck (its in bold because when I called the vet, she thought I was talking about a real duck). I have been diligently pooper scooping but nothing yet. And its been 20 degrees here in New Orleans. I hope he pukes something up soon.

Okay girls, I will go put a sweatshirt by the door and brave the cold to inspect and scoop poop. Luckily I still have some big girl panties around that she hasn't eaten yet. And Carole, you are so right, I have a feeling she could pass anything she eats. I just picked up some long stringy, rough looking specimen this morning, ( it was a frigid 45 degrees !!!!)  I am not quite sure what it once was, a sock? Possibly the shoe that has gone missing?   How about the candlesticks with the 2 big fat candles from last week?  Maybe it's the toaster she ate the week before?  I'm afraid to leave my laptop within her reach anymore.  HELP!!!! She might eat US next!!!

I know how you feel.... I am always jealous of those doodles that just tear and destroy and DON'T EAT!   I just spent the last few days inspecting Tori's poop for three fingers of my son's LEATHER batting glove  she chewed off and ate!  BUT ... I was out in 10 degree WIND CHILL at least 0, weather sifting through SNOW AND ICE!  But -   Success !!!
