Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Just need to share, (or vent) that I have never known a dog to eat as much Non-food items as my Bella. I swear she must have the makings of a hardware store in her belly by now! I figure most will come out one end or the other eventually, but it's the stuff that will get stuck or perforate that concerns me. I just can't figure out what it is that attracts her to this "stuff". Plastic, cardboard, sticks, rocks, fabric, socks, underwear, metal, stuffed animals, paper anything, pens, pencils, paper clips, thread, pins, safety pins, cords, carpets, Murphy's hair, her own hair, cotton balls, Q-tips, Rubbermaid bowls, bottle caps, cigarette butts, and last but not least.....her own poop!!!!!
It's not like she doesn't get the best home-cooked food known to doodles, or that she doesn't get plenty of it 2 times a day, or that she is not watched like a hawk all day and night, or that she doesn't have a toy box full of toys that is the envy of all her doodle (and non-doodle) friends or that she doesn't get raw beef bones or bully sticks or crunchy treats during the day. What more is there to do????
I decided I needed Pet Insurance for this one just because of what she finds to eat. It's not a matter of IF she will have a problem with something not belonging in her tummy, it's WHEN it finally happens.
I still find the poop the worst of it though and have done all the holistic suggestions on DK I could find. I might start spraying her with a water bottle or shaking a can with pennies in it near her if she even goes near her poop. Except that entails me going out to the yard in the freezing cold at night and early morning, waiting for the poop to drop!!!!
Oye, This little doodle is making me crazy!!!
Thanks for letting me vent, and don't worry April, I love her dearly, foul breath and all. (Yuck)

Rosie's munch of choice is exclusively socks and Ali's Victoria Secrets panties (I say that because I swear to you she won't eat the cheap ones!). If it's any comfort she's never had a issue passing anything she's eaten (one way or another) so I gather Kennedy pups have amazing plumbing! LOL
I am soooo glad Rua only eats paper. She is a sock and underwear thief, but will take them out of the clean clothes basket and relocate them to her crate. A few weeks ago she did discover the cat's litter box...but after posting a discussion on that, was able to stop that by following the advice.
All I can say is suck it up, put your big girl panties on and brave the frigid temps to scoop up the poop right after it drops! It was 5 BELOW zero the other morning...we couldn't get Rua to poo at all!
April...my poor freezing friend, YOU obviously have no idea what living in the tropics for 40 years can do for ones tolerance for cold. For this I feel sorry for you! But, you have chosen to remain in a state that has some of the worse winters in the country, and why that is I can not fathom, but that does not make you the authority on what is FREEZING to this warm blooded Florida girl!! One girls 40 can be as uncomfortable as another girls -10!!!! And just FYI....we have had 20's recently, so THERE! :) Kidding-kidding-kidding. I love ya girl and can appreciate how cold Mich. is as I have been there during the winter. Once. And we got outta there and headed back south ASAP!!!!!
Now to Bella, you hit the nail on the head...I was beginning to wonder what the heck I did to mess up this wonderful perfect angel that you sent me 3 months ago. And lucky Carole and me, what a lotto to be blessed with. You mean to tell me Rose STILL is doing this? I will have to write to her so we can whine together!
"The good news is that Kennedy pups are very sweet, full of personality and adorable as can be. It really saves them"
Yes, that is absolutely what is saving her...that and probably the PETPLAN Insurance I have!!
BTW...When are you coming out to sunny warm Arizona to visit your extended AZ family? Well gotta go, our "Angel" just walked by with a pillow in her mouth!!! The montra for today is "Bella is sweet and adorable...Bella is sweet and adorable...." BELLA -- LEAVE IT!!!!!!
OK.....I read this whole thing chuckling but one sentence jumped out at me and slapped me in the face.
"Except that entails me going out to the yard in the freezing cold at night and early morning"
Sue, exactly how cold would that be, 50? 45? or heaven forbid 40??? You, my dear live in Arizona and have no idea what freezing cold is!!
Now to Bella....I have absolutely NO idea what on earth you are talking about! Every other puppy we have raised has been an absolute angel and has never eaten anything other then dog food. They were born perfect and were perfect when they left, so I'm honestly wondering what you did to mess that up?
LOL, I'm kidding of course. You and Carole (Gaston and Rose) would have a lot to talk about. For some reason a couple one Kennedy pups in each litter like to eat anything and everything they can. You just won the lotto with her. :o)
The good news is that Kennedy pups are very sweet, full of personality and adorable as can be. It really saves them!
Ewwww, a poop eater huh - total yuck and I can say that as I had a Lab that did the same thing. The worst was when he vomited poop all over my carpeted steps in the house. Of course DH was out of town at the time - lol. I wanted to vomite myself. Hang in there though, he grew out of it and was the pet love of my life. He died very young and I never really got over it.
