We are still looking at houses, but there is one that is on our "short list" (term our realtor uses).

I  just wanted you to see if my DK friends think this yard is suitable for Lady Peri and Taquito.  Please ignore the yard art - this photo does not do the yard justice at all!!!!!!!!!  It has a nice front yard too.  The back looks steeper than it actually is - we should be able to fence it off.  The house is pretty great on the interior - just needs paint (and it has an unfinished basement).  Outside needs fence, removal of yard art (lol) and a new roof.

The covered area would be a dream - maybe one day! This is our first house so we definitely will not be getting everything we want all at once.  For now, I will take a yard & kitchen!  I am living in a condo right now!

We love the yard!!!  Doodle/Chi romp time for SURE!!

One thing to consider about the house though, just speaking from my own experience. I find it is really nice to have the deck or patio COVERED for my animals. I have had houses both ways and both ways have their own advantages and disadvantages. But it is nice on warm rainy days for them to be able to be outside in a covered area and also a place close to the house that is shady on warm sunny days. If the dogs will be coming in and out of that double door a cover affords a nice area for feet wiping, etc. before they enter.  You can always add a cover too if you find you want one but that is another added expense along with the fence...just a thought!

We can do what we want!  No HOA in the neighborhood we are looking in - just a bunch of old 50-60s ranch houses.  The house next door to this one has a wooden privacy fence.  A few houses down there is a picket fence, etc...nothing is the same.  That can be good and bad. I tend to think it's better because we can do what we want!!!

Oh my I think your little doggies would love this yard.  Particularly if you fenced the whole thing.  I think that I too would have a fence company come out prior to purchase (see Jane and Rooney's surprise fence guy visit post just this morning).  You want to be sure you can do what you want without any problems.  Most Companies have free estimates and you are not obligated to go with them.  You can always shop around afterwards but at least you know what you want is dooable.

Gotta love a brick ranch house (my personal favorite).  With a house, yard,  and basement like this you will be able to add more Doodles! :o)

The whole lot is about 1 acre. I would say the back yard is less than 1/2 an acre and we would not fence the entire thing.  We will definitely be getting bids no matter where we move!  I agree - people are hungrier in this economy and I must price things out!  Thanks all - cannot WAIT to have a yard :)
