It seems that FTBDITW is now also, FTLDITW following his encounter with a skunky.

I thought people needed to know about Finn's Lucky Escape.

Finn is indeed a dog blessed with the most wonderful disposition. He is gentle and kind and oozes energy that communicates - Don't be afraid of me - I am... friend. And indeed this aura drew a soft, fluffy, bubble of protection around Finny when he yesterday came face to face with his first skunk.
I had always imagined that when the inevitable meeting happened it would be at night on a pee walk in the winter in the wind and lashing rain, and Finn would be confronted rudely and suddenly from a bush and would bark madly at the end of a taught leash and all hell would break lose, and there would be horrendous odours and tears and yelping and...well, as you can tell, I had quite worked myself up for it.
So when the meeting took place in a park around the corner, on a bright summer's day, mid-afternoon, it was so unexpected that at first I didn't even recognize what I was looking at. But before I could say OMG, Finn was literally nose to nose with the skunk; and it was quiet and still and birdies twittered, and I could almost hear the little critter say, "You can call me Flower if you like," and Finny respond, "Why, that's such a pretty name..."
It was only when I, Finny's horrified Mum, started freaking out and shouting coarsely, "Leave it! Leave it!" that our stinky little friend turned around and showed it's third eye. And it wasn't pointing at Finny.
As I ran past, wide eyed and screaming, tripping over my own feet, with arms flailing like a windmill, the little creature followed me with it's rear, as though aiming a water pistol and waiting for an opportune moment.
It fired, but even though Finn stood right beside it, it did not aim at him. It missed me, (ha, ha,) although the tiniest little bit of yellow like pollen (poo) landed on Finn's left eye brow.
Now, is he blessed or what? Finny was washed with puppy, No More Tears and conditioner, and the gaggy poo-poo smell has all but gone.
It seems that, FTBDITW is also FTLDITW!

Finny - you didn't jump in front of your mistress and take "the bullet" to protect her? I think your post should be called "JTLWITW". Thanks for the entertaining tale Jessica.

To funny. I Iaughed so loud my daughter hopped out of the shower to see what was so funny. Our Summer girl found not one but two skunks in our woods a few days ago. DH and I went to investigate and we all three left the area quickly before anything could happen...

This is so funny, you do indeed paint a good picture of the event. Glad you guys came through mostly nonskunked. We don't have skunks where we live thank goodness. Finn you surely do sound like TBDITW.

Jessica...it was NOT GracieDoodle but our previous dog, a Lab named Rodney! He was only allowed in the kitchen with a doggie door to the patio. Gracie on the other hand has the entire run of the house and is either on our bed or in one of any of the rooms on the floor trying to stay cool. She likes to play musical rooms!!
