We leave in 90 minutes for Chianti's x-rays on her leg. Praying for all the best of news!!!! She is so done with her crate and pen. We also need to start breaking some of the horrible habits she has learned over the last 5 weeks!
If anyone has some good thoughts to spare we will take them!!!

I will update with the news when we get back...

I'm so sorry about your news. Poor Chianti! I'm guessing this poor doodle will be totally spoiled this holiday...as she should be.

So sorry to hear the news was not what you (we all) hoped to hear. Chianti is such a lucky little girl that she has such a wonderful mommy and daddy taking care of her. Will will keep paws crossed that they don't have to move the surgery up to the more intensive surgery in January. Do you have to try and keep her contained now until May?

Aw, Jenna, I'm sorry the news wasn't better. My thoughts are with you & Chianti, hoping things go as smoothly as possible.

We spent 5 hours at Penn yesterday for them to tell us that Chianti needs to have surgery. Biggest concern is the alignment in her elbow, it will cause early arthritis if we don't fix it. Apparently her growth plates were crushed in the "accident" and so her Radius is growing, but her Ulna is not. She is getting a huge turnout from her wrist (which we were seeing). They want to wait until her growth plates close up (probably like around May) and then put a pin in her ulna and collapse the bend the radius and straighten it out with a metal plate. Surgery may get pushed up to January to a more intensive surgery if they determine a part of the radius growth plate was also damaged. We will determine that on the 22nd at our next appointment. We are pretty upset about it all, we are going to get a 2nd opinion, however I can't imagine hearing anything different, their recommendations make sense to me.

I did tell them that the ER doc should never have told us, "she will be fine, we see this all the time, 2 weeks and she will be good to go" without discussing other concerns.

Thanks for all the thoughts and crossing of paws!
