Sweet boy, you thought we were just going to visit Auntie Summer at the Wet Nose Oasis to get your normal cookies and pets and love from everyone. You thought you would get to get your sniffs in at the kitty cats. I didn't mean to squeal on you about your teeth and your tarter. I was just going to show her to see what she thought. I didn't know she was going to run and get her dental cleaning supplies. Me and my big mouth, I know that is what you are thinking...

You were such a brave boy, you sat with your mouth open while she used very sharp dental tools to scratch the tarter right off your teeth. At first I thought she broke your tooth, little did I know that that was all tarter and not the actual shape of your tooth. You were so brave, I would have bit her hand to tell you the truth. She made your poor little gums bleed.I am so happy to be rid of that tarter that I spent so much time and money to try to get rid of.

I know you are a major grudge holder as evidenced by the fact when it was over, I tried to give you some love and some of your favorite treats to which you turned your back on me and spit the treat onto the floor. I think it is cute when you are mad.

Sometimes little man, you just have to do what you don't want to do, All that tarter is now gone and your teeth are cleaner then mine.

Now chew on some stuff, and I will brush your teeth every other day instead of twice a day and we may make this go away.

Stop holding a grudge and come snuggle on the sofa with me, you know you don't like the recliner unless I am in it with you and you know my arms are empty unless you are in it...

Love your mean mommy who made you get your teeth cleaned who then bought you more toys and treats and signed you up for another play group.

Love you forever tarter or not, but glad you are tarter free.

I really didn't have any intention of having his teeth cleaned when we went there. I usually just go there once a week to check in, say hi, buy a treat or two for Jack and gab. I just happen to talk to her about his teeth and before you know it, little man was up on the table with sharp utensils in his mouth. I am not sure if I really thought about it or not, it kind of just happen. I most likely would not have let her do it because of fear of him being traumatized or getting hurt or having the tarter cause a blood infection, which has happen to me twice to myself. I don't even use dental floss on my teeth for that reason, (but I am a unique person)

Anyway, he did so good, he is so used to me sticking my fingers in his mouth several times a day. He did spend a good part of the rest of then night licking his lips...

I ordered one of the dental tools online but I am most likely not going to use it often if at all because I just don't know what I am doing well enough.  I swear I thought she broke his tooth because such a big piece came off, I can't tell if that is the way the shape of his tooth is supposed to be or if it is broke...

I know Karen's Jack was getting his teeth professionally cleaned soon and I am wondering how he did if anyone knows?

Wow, Jack is really lucky they didn't put him under anesthesia for a cleaning.  We had to have that done with Olivia and she acted like a drunken sailor for a day or so.  The anesthesia didn't agree with her.  Maybe they had to put her to sleep since she was an adult Doodle and not a puppy.  We felt really bad.  Olivia needs lots of hard chewey bones to keep her teeth clean.  Just our brushing doesn't do the trick.  We bought her antlers but she usually favors the wishbone Nylabone which we are not crazy about (we worry about it splintering).  We also give her a raw carrot every day.  She is too lazy to chew it herself so we cut it into 1/2 size pieces and she chomps away.  That seems to help.  Maybe raw carrots may help Jack's teeth.  Double check with your vet though first!  Tell Jack we think he is a real trouper.  And, Jennifer, her is not eating his treats because his teeth and gums are probably really sore.  He's not upset with you either.  He's just being a typical male!
