Although our puppy did not jump up at 12 weeks old, he sure did start the nipping. He nipped at our clothes, our feet, our hands etc. Then, at around 14-16 weeks old this progressed into the jumping up and nipping. All I can tell you is that we started obedience classes when he was 12 weeks old and without these classes we would not have had a clue what to do. We learned so much and it made a HUGE difference. We learned also from this site, as Adina has pointed out, that many many many many other doodle owners have been thru this. Probably most of the posts on the site that Adina suggested are from me!!! I could go on for pages telling you about the biting and what we did to train our dog not to do this, but I won't. We were TOTALLY unprepared for this, but with the help of our dog trainer and other DK members, we realized what a great dog we had-he was just "mouthy". That is how he played. I am happy to say that our boy GD Thomas is 7 and a bit months old now. He may try to grab us in play now-but when we say "no teeth" he stops and just licks us all over. Good luck and for sure read over the links Adina sent. I still do every once in awhile.
Hi Phyle...I encourage you to ask this question in our Discussion Forum. Blogs, like the one you just wrote, are for sharing stories mostly. If you have questions, you will get much more help if you post in the main forum.
Also you can search in the main forum (using the search box) for words like "jumping" "biting" and you will find LOTS of past advice on this topic. It's okay to ask this again, but for your benefit you will get MORE answers in the discussion forum =)
