Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I will post pictures here when I am all done grooming Lyric with her Mommy cut, but you won't believe how big she is! Yikes! She looks like a big pink balloon with her hair shaved down on her belly. We do X rays next Thursday so we will have a count then, but I am guessing 7 or 8 pups. You can feel them moving around in there now.
She is sleepy most of the time now and when she does hear something and starts to bark and run, she quickly stops and seems to say "ugh--what was i thinking?" and lays down again.
My breeder has closed applications for the litter--they are all sold and then some! i think she would have to have 12 pups to get everyone off the waiting list. So, there will be a few disappointed people out there.
I am working on getting the whelping room put back together. It was formerly the room my two daughters shared as children and when they come home (not too often) I have to transform it back into a bedroom again. So, now I have to get everything back into the room for Lyric and rearrange all the furniture. Luckily, my son is back at college, so i still have his room for an occasional guest. We have a friend coming a week after the pus are born and she is bringing her two very well-behaved poodles--my DH mentioned this morning that with our three doodles, her two poodles and who knows how many puppies, we will have a house FULL of dogs in a few weeks--Yikes!

OK--Pictures!! Here is Lyric with just 8 days to go--she is way bigger than last time. Her hair is quite short so that she will be cooler in the 80 degree puppy room.
This one shows her guarding her "sock babies'--she gets very attached to things at this point as if they were puppies. These are just old socks of my husband's! I have to watch her with toys now because she tends to tear at them and rip them up. Luckily, the puppies don't get the same treatment!
Oh, dear--now you have me worried!
I just went to a baby consignment sale and found gates, a pack and play and lots of little towels--dirt cheap! They will come in very handy. I can put the playpen outdoors on nice days and let them walk around in it.
