When we bought our house 2 years ago, we had it entirely repainted prior to move-in. It was an estate sale and really needed paint - two rooms had wood paneling, wallpaper, etc...
The only thing we did NOT paint was the kitchen - the cabinets. I just couldn't bring myself to paint the dark wood. Our painters said "you are going to regret not painting them now". Guess what? Fast forward 2 years and we can't stand them! We are having them painted white to match our trim. Our kitchen will be a cheery yellow and white now! I am so excited I can't stand it!
Of course it's a little tougher getting this done once we are living in the house. Hello kitchen madness! We had to move everything out this weekend! With a newborn around that's a little crazy. And poor Peri and Taquito were so confused.
The painters started this morning and of course we cannot leave the dogs there while this is going on (they would freak out plus the smell of the sanding, oil paint, etc...). So Taquito is staying with my parents for 3 nights and Peri is off to doggy daycare for each of the days. We will pick her up and she will stay with us at home at night, but she hasn't been to daycare like this in about 2 years! She was so excited this morning in the car.
However, when Peri is at home without Tacky, she is literally morose. She was moping around, went up to his kennel and sighed. Then came to me and just looked at me with those big doodly brown eyes. I am not making this up! It's so sad! And I miss my space heater so much. I kept waking up forgetting he was at my parent's house - Taquito always cuddles with me under the covers. It really is sad :(
At least we have Peri at home though at night/mornings. I will post before and after pics of the kitchen. In the meantime, here is our dining room filled with quite a bit of our kitchen items. It's a disaster zone. Really kicking myself for not doing this 2 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see the pics! When I bought my house it had just been flipped so all of the woodwork was painted white and all cabinets were replaced with bright white beautiful cabinets. I love love LOVE it. But be prepared to clean them alot with a little one. They sure pick up little cheeto hand prints like crazy ;)
Kitchens are the hardest remodel, but you will love it when it is done. Your description of Peri sounds like Kona when our Golden died. It was pitiful. I hope you can visit your mom with Peri so she knows Tacky is okay.
I love the dining room, too, and the kitchen is going to be gorgeous, you'll be so glad when it's finished. Please post photos!
Tacky will be home before you know it, warming your bed! It's really sweet that Peri misses him so much.
Now, um, about that "newborn"....isn't she about 5 months old now? LOL
It has some green in it too....it's gray/greenish/blue I guess. I love it. Actually had it in my condo and liked it so much I used the same color in the house (for living and dining only). It is a fabulous, livable color :)
The dining set is from Peri's breeder! Her mom downsized and she sent an email about putting this on craigslist - I snatched it up. She came by and Peri went nuts - hadn't seen her since the last romp :)
Lovely dining room indeed. I refaced my kitchen cabinets and got new doors, had a couple of cabinets replaced entirely. New countertops, sink, and appliances. Luckily I didn't have dogs ate the moment. I will never do that again although I was very happy with the results.
I'm loving the wall color (and floors) as well. On my computer it looks like it is a very pale blue/gray color. I see the name below, but was just wondering if I were seeing the color correctly!
It's really been 2 years, OMD, seriously doesn't seem that long ago.
I love your floors, your wall color and especially your dining room set, everything is just beautiful.
I can't imagine having one of the pack away, it must be torture. Soon it will be all over and you will be one big happy family again. Can't wait for the before and after.
I definitely feel your pain, Allyson!! We bought our "new" house last May. It, too, needed to be completely repainted, both inside and out (one of the upstairs bedrooms had red wallpaper, not flocked, but close). We did the painting and kitchen remodel before we moved in, but still needed to redo all 3 1/2 bathrooms after we moved in last October. The bathroom demolition (master and half bath) started the week of Thanksgiving and it's still going on!! Fortunately, we're in the final stages. However, as soon as the master bath is usable, we start demolition on the final two bathrooms. Sedona is actually getting used to having construction guys here all the time.
Good luck with the kitchen - looking forward to pictures!!!
Thanks all! BTW the wall color is Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage (Porter matched it).
I love your floors, wall color, trims, and most of all that chandelier! I hope it's not too long before you can bring home your taquito! Poor Peri...i know she's sad but every time you post about her she cracks me up. Can't wait to see your before and after!!
