Kitchen Redo = Dog-Free House :(

When we bought our house 2 years ago, we had it entirely repainted prior to move-in.  It was an estate sale and really needed paint - two rooms had wood paneling, wallpaper, etc... 

 

The only thing we did NOT paint was the kitchen - the cabinets.  I just couldn't bring myself to paint the dark wood. Our painters said "you are going to regret not painting them now".  Guess what? Fast forward 2 years and we can't stand them!  We are having them painted white to match our trim. Our kitchen will be a cheery yellow and white now!  I am so excited I can't stand it!

 

Of course it's a little tougher getting this done once we are living in the house.  Hello kitchen madness!  We had to move everything out this weekend!  With a newborn around that's a little crazy.  And poor Peri and Taquito were so confused.

 

The painters started this morning and of course we cannot leave the dogs there while this is going on (they would freak out plus the smell of the sanding, oil paint, etc...).  So Taquito is staying with my parents for 3 nights and Peri is off to doggy daycare for each of the days. We will pick her up and she will stay with us at home at night, but she hasn't been to daycare like this in about 2 years!  She was so excited this morning in the car. 

 

However, when Peri is at home without Tacky, she is literally morose.  She was moping around, went up to his kennel and sighed. Then came to me and just looked at me with those big doodly brown eyes.  I am not making this up!  It's so sad!  And I miss my space heater so much. I kept waking up forgetting he was at my parent's house - Taquito always cuddles with me under the covers. It really is sad :(

 

At least we have Peri at home though at night/mornings.  I will post before and after pics of the kitchen. In the meantime, here is our dining room filled with quite a bit of our kitchen items.  It's a disaster zone.  Really kicking myself for not doing this 2 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the floor.  I know how you feel about not having the dog in the house.  My DH had radioactive iodine treatment a few days ago.  We had to take Monty out of the house for a minimum of 4 days.  I just picked him up today, we were soo lost without him.  Actually we were lost without each other too, as DH was quarantined in the man cave.  All is well when the pack is together!

Allyson, I am with Adina. I cannot believe it has been two whole years. I love your dining room and those floors are gorgeous. It won't be long and everything will be back to normal for all of you, including the Choodle :)

Was it really TWO whole years ago you moved in?  It seemed like just barely before Charlotte that you found the house with yard!

First of all, your dining room is very pretty even with all the kitchen things in it!  I love the color of you walls and your flooring is beautiful.  We did that exact same thing a few years back. I was so mad at myself for not doing everything at once and although it was not the kitchen it was a big hassle to say the least.  Those Doodles can look at you with eyes that actually say things and I understand about the big brown eyes and how sad they can look.  Hang in there, it will go quickly and things will all be back in place and your kitchen will be beautiful.
