Kona is not to be outdone, Buddy earned his Rally Excellent Title too :)

Congratulations finally to Buddy CGC TDI RE :) It may have taken him a little longer, but he finally completed his Rally Excellent Title this last weekend. On Saturday he finished with a 92, but on Sunday with an 82 I was happy he qualified! Dog "almost" in heat in the ring right before him, not a fun time had by me, he had a blast LOL When Buddy reacted to the dog at 5 feet away owner said, "oh, she is almost in heat" gee thanks....

He took first place on Sat and Second on Sunday. I will consider going on with Kona RAE, but Buddy will take some distraction training and work on the "no sniff" command for a loooong time before I consider taking him in again. It feels like time stands still when you can't get their attention and their head is buried in the grass.

It was a beautiful, Sunny, 70 degree day, and he really is just happy to be away with his Mom ALONE :) He climbs in my lap for a snuggle as we wait and watch all of our friends. And, he poses so pretty for the Camera!

You only need 70 in AKC to qualify also Leslie. I was so turned around on Sunday because he was so distracted that I really thought I had missed a sign and we did not qualify. If I don't talk to the dogs, I don't think I would breathe through the whole course :)

Congratulations to you and Halas too!!!! I have noticed that some judges are way more lenient than others, so it is really just the luck of the draw at times. One of the best runs I ever thought Kona and I had got scored in the 80's because she said that Kona lagged too far behind me through the course, not at the proper "heel" position. If you read the regs, they don't have to be stuck to your leg, just paying attention and with you through the course. I like this more laid-back attitude too Leslie, I wouldn't know where to start with the formal obedience, it scares me a litte and doesn't look like much fun.

Congratulations! I'm still so impressed that your doods can focus even when doing this outside. Halas earned 2 legs towards his URO2 in UKC rally last weekend. It's funny what you said about time standing still. There are times I've felt the same, sure that we wouldn't qualify because I wasn't keeping Halas in perfect heel position or something like that. But one of the things I like about Rally is that they want you to succeed. You may get a point off here and there, but in UKC, you only need a 70 to qualify. I think I've seen more NQs than scores below 70, and that's usually been because the handler circled the wrong direction or skipped an exercise or something like that. The whole point is to have fun with your dog in an activity a little more laid-back than traditional obedience, and I like that their scoring and attitude reflect that.

Thanks everyone, we do have a lot of fun no matter what :) We all love to train. It is so funny when we train in the house, they both compete to be next to me and the first to do what is asked. They do offer team rally competitions and I believe two dogs at one time also........ Maybe next year.
