I have had Kona groomed by a gaggle of professional groomers with mixed results. The last adventure in using a professional groomer was a disaster as I described in an earlier blog. I have now invested in grooming tools and today cut Kona's hair for the second time. I clipped his body with a 3 3/4 skip toothed blade, trimmed his neck with a 4F blade, did his privates and ears with a 10 blade. I scissored his legs and head. Below are photos of this experience. If they come out sideways I am at a loss on how to fix it.

Nicky, I followed all of the information on the Grooming Group for almost a year before attempting this. Barb is a valuable resource!

You did a fantastic job.  I will take great encouragement from this as I will be attempting my own grooming.  Thanks for sharing which blades you used and where because I don't understand these different blades at all.

Melody, I don't know how to get a photo from my page to a blog. They are straight on My Page. I imported them from my computer to put into the blog.

Thank you for your kind comments. Kona was a perfect angel. He stood still the entire time. The first time I tried grooming him, I put him on a table since that is the way they do it at the shops. It was awkward because he kept slipping. Today I just stood him in the garage (easier to sweep than the brick patio or wood deck) and started clipping. He is such a good boy. The only thing I wanted him to do that he refused was lay on his side so I could shave his belly. I'll try that on the grass. I'm pretty sure he will do it on the grass (or my bed and that is not happening!). There will be weeks of me snipping here and there I imagine. His hair is at least half the length that it was. I don't think the photos show that.

Great job Bonnie! He looks wonderful!!  Was he a good boy for his grooming session?
