Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I spent yesterday making sure both the girls were brushed out and looking their prettiest for today's romp.  Then today I packed the car with water bowl, brush, car seat cover and towels... lots of towels since both girls have a tendency to get car sick.  Amazingly enough neither one of them got sick on the ride to the romp (this was the first of the firsts today).  After we arrived at the romp Harlow was ready to go play with all the other doods so off came the leash and off she went to participate in the doodle zooms.

Since Lacey is still very leery of having a leash put on her (and she is still very skittish overall) I thought it best to keep her on her leash.  As you can see in the picture (Thanks Lynn of Fountain Falls for taking pictures) her tail is down but she is looking interested in the other doodles.

Lacey watching another GD while mom is Oh'ing and Aw'ing over the doodle puppies playing.

Then a couple of other Goldendoodles came over to say 'Hi' and include Lacey in their exuberance (Yes, Lacey has a pink leash so people will know she is a girl).

Finally mom realized she had a camera and snapped a picture of Lacey.

Lacey had a lot of socializing with lots of other doodles and people coming up to pet her.  At first she was her normal very shy scaredy doodle self sitting on my feet or leaning against the back of my legs; but as the day went on she became more comfortable.

Then the biggest surprise of all came as I was saying goodbye with one of the other doodle owners.  I felt Lacey's leash go a bit taut behind me.  I turned around to see what might of spooked her.  But the reason her leash went taut wasn't because something scared her, it went tight because she had moved closer to another couple who was talking to her and petting her.  It was an amazing first; Lacey not just accepting being petted by others but actually wanting to be petted.  I was so proud of her.

After we said our goodbyes, Lacey and Harlow hopped back into the car and we drove home without anyone getting car sick (wow we have a streak, 2 car rides in a row with no up chucking doodles).

Now the girls are stretched out sleeping on the sofas after their fun day romping.

I'm so happy to hear this wonderful news, Nina.  Your girl is coming into her own.  Your time, love and lots of patience seem to be making the difference.  Way to go, Lacey!

Nina, You have made an incredible difference in Lacey's life. I remember her story from the beginning.  I am so glad Harlow and Lacey did not throw up in the car and had a great time at the Doodle romp.
