Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

It's been 10 long years since we said good bye to our "pound puppy" Tater Tot. I didn't think I would ever get another dog. It was just too painful letting her go. She was a border terrier mix (just picture Benji) with quite the personality and had been a member of our family for 14 years.

After much back and forth about the pros and cons of having another dog, we've finally put down a deposit on a medium size Labradoodle! My husband has allergies and was very concerned about how he might react to a new dog. So... we went to the breeders for a visit and played with one of the pups from another litter. Not even a runny nose!

The pups were born on December 5th, but due to our "discussions", we were the last to put down our deposit. That means we get the last of the 8 puppies. There are 6 chocolate girls, 1 chocolate boy and 1 apricot boy. We requested a female and it seems the odds are in our favor.

Of course I'd rather be able to pick from the litter, but these pups look gorgeous and so do both parents.

Did anyone else out there get the last pup of the litter?

Feeling excited, but a little nervous...

Just because a pup is last pick in the litter doesn't mean it isn't as good as the rest of the litter.  People all have a different set of reasons for the pup they choose.  Years ago, we went to look at yellow lab puppies & there were just 2 left.  One ran away, the other came bounding down the hill with a stick in his mouth, seemingly showing off for us.  We picked him & he was the most wonderful dog we'd ever had.  We lost him 2 years ago & I'll always miss him.  We were so lucky no one else picked him first.
