Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Long time since I last wrote. Our summer highlight was a trip "Up North" Wisconsin. We rented two cabins on a lake, grown-up children flew in. I was worried that Ella and Harry would run away with all the smells in the woods luring them. Everyone helped keep eyes on them and they never wandered far. Ella was a natural swimmer and loved retrieving sticks thrown in the water. She would gracefully swim back with no splashing. Harry was another story - he thrashed around and decided that swimming was not his thing. He would wait in the shallows for Ella, grab the stick and trot in so pleased with himself. We rented a pontoon and Ella and Harry accompanied us on the lake. I was like a worried mother about their safety.
Harry has gone through a little growth spurt and is now taller than Ella. He still weights less and built more like a poodle than Ella. He is very much dependent upon his sister and follows her everywhere. When Ella stayed over night in the hospital after being spayed, he cried and moped. He then went to kennel for three days so as to let her recover. They said the first day he stood in a corner of the yard during playtime and need encouragement to join in the fun. Meanwhile, Ella was pleased as punch to have all our attention and did not seem to miss her brother a bit.
As to their behavior, they are obsessed with chewing wood. We had put their kennels away and have now gotten them back out. No more unsupervised time in the house! With it only being the two of us, we seldom go down stairs. A few weeks ago I went downstairs to find wicker, wood slivers all over the room. What a fun time they must have had. I will now try and attach pics!
