Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Wednesday, John and I spent the entire day in Philadelphia, PA, attending a Photography Seminar with Scott Kelby. We had a wonderful time, but the highlight of our trip was we met up with Cheryl of Cheryl and Finnegan. Who knew all those years ago when I joined DoodleKisses, that this online dog website, would allow me to meet some members in person? First, the cruise and now, a seminar. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Cheryl was a little late, and we saved her a seat. Unfortunately, not long after we picked out our seats, one large headed man fought his way down the empty row of chairs in front of us and decided that the one seat directly in our path to the screen was the one he wanted.
I was worried Cheryl might not be able to see, but then I thought to myself, “hey, she’s late….you snooze, you lose!” Luckily, she said she could see, so we didn’t have to arm wrestle for my seat. At one point, the big headed man did turn around and give me a look when I was opening up a pack of crackers, but luckily he did not say anything about the noise or I would have hated to have Cheryl see another side to me when I yelled, “eyes forward , buddy!”
I texted Cheryl where we were seated and told her I was wearing jeans and a blue jacket and that I was stunning. I noticed when she walked into the auditorium she looked right at me and I gave a tentative wave and she still seemed unsure of who I was based on my description. Thankfully, she did not say, “did you mean to type sunning?” I think F further confused her when I posted this picture
and F said, “if you think that is what Laurie looks like, you will never find her.” I am in the process of reporting F to Adina. Well, Cheryl and I were like two peas in a pod. Cheryl is wonderful, soft spoken, nice, kind, and a real lady and if you don’t believe that sounds like me, just the other day John said to me, “your tongue got in front of yer eyetooth, didn’t it, and you couldn’t see what you was sayin?” Instead of getting mad, I put him right in his place with this lady like response, “if brains were dynamite, you wouldn’t have enough to blow that there nose of yours.” I could see Cheryl saying the same thing if someone said something about her sweet Finnegan or her eyetooth.
Scott Kelby had a great sense of humor since almost everything that could go wrong, did. Cheryl leaned over at one point and said, “this makes me feel better,” and as a new person to Photography, I knew exactly what she meant. Most of what I do is trial and error and to see a famous photographer laughing about one problem after another, made me realize that I didn’t have to go around cussing and saying where I’d like to put my camera in relationship to the posterior of anyone trying to help me. Cheryl didn’t say those exact same words, but I could read between the lines. We didn’t have much time to talk because we were kept very busy, but I enjoyed the time we spent together and hope to do it again.
At the end of the seminar, we asked a young man to take our picture. I wished we had asked Scott Kelby instead, because I look like Lurch with a goiter.
I wanted us all to sit down on a couch, but John said we should stand. In retrospect, I have to ask myself why I listened to John for the first time in my life, because now I have a picture that I am captioning, “which one is not like the others?” Unlike me, Cheryl looks beautiful in the picture and John is practically the spitting image of Brad Pitt. I mean, look how Cheryl pushed her way in between us. Oh well, if that seminar taught me anything, I know right where the delete button is on my camera.
P.S. I know Cheryl has a good sense of humor. I am counting on it!
P.S.S. We were "this close" to meeting F, but she decided meeting Cheryl John us was not worth the long drive. Next time, F.
P.S.S.S. All redneck comments were taken off the Internet.

How fun!
So cool. But what is an eyetooth?
You know Laurie I hate big headed men too! The nerve of him to turn around when opening your crackers and give you the look! He was just jealous he did not think of something to bring while the instructor was making mistakes:) Your picture is great and how fun to meet Cheryl and spend an afternoon "learning" about photograply! Did I say that? I could think of numerous other things to do with a wonderful DK friend! So happy for all of you and I am actually jealous!
LOVE the photo and it sounds like a fun and informative time was had by all!!!!
That's so fun!!! Love the photos.
awesome! Love the picture of all of you.
How nice that you and Cheryl got to meet, too bad that the doodles couldn't be there too, lol!
That's so much fun when you get to meet fellow weirdos doodle lovers. I was lucky enough to meet a few and hoping for more in the future. Non-doodle people just can't relate. I overheard my neighbor chuckling when I was taking Monty's B-day pictures. Fortunately, I was too busy with the photoshoot, otherwise I would have told her that I laughed the same way when I saw her taking her two Chihuahuas out in a pink stroller.
Ok, my clicker finger got ahead of my brain ... How fun that you guys got to meet and in a photography class. Sounds like a wonderful day! Maybe we should start a new group where we can put photos of DKers and their doodles who have met in person!
