Wow, she has been home one week.  In some ways it seems like she has been here forever and in some ways the week just flew.  She has gotten big.  It seems like she is growing in leaps and bounds day by day.  We went from an unsure pup touching carpet for the first time to a crazy doodle running from room to room and leaving teeth marks all over my hands.  What happened.

I thought I was prepared, after all I read every discussion on DK that was posted about new puppies.  I knew all about puppy poops, sleeping in crates, feeding and leash walking.  What happened?  Little Lily shared the bed with me the second night she was home. Well, we compromised.  Her crate was on my bed. I forgot how much a baby can cry.  As the week went by, Lily went right into her crate (on the floor) at night time, but still is waking up at 2 and at 6.  I think she is playing me but I am afraid to push my luck and have to clean the crate in the morning.

She bites and is mouthing me constantly.  I have stuck so many Nylabones in her mouth but my hands are always bleeding.  She is a shark on 4 legs.

Walking on a loose leash, well we do not have the pulling problem.  Lily walks 10 feet and then sits down and refuses to move.  WTD!  I am thinking that the breeder had a fenced yard that she was allowed to roam and when she was on a leash it was training time - sit, stay and come.  She has the sit and stay down pat, the come part well that is a different story.

All in all I love her with emotions I did not think I would have again.  She makes me laugh and certainly keeps me busy.  Here are some pictures of her first week.

Quincy is 6 months and is still very mouthy.  we bought bully sticks on line in bulk so they were reasonable,  I also bought the no smell (otherwise they do smell like a bull's youknowwhat likely smells...) She is just a beauty- too cute!  Enjoy-they grow so fast.

She sure is the cutest puppy. I love Parti's.  I don't have any advice re shark teeth as I'm lucky here but you can give her antlers and stuffed kongs.

She's adorable and it sounds like she's loving being home with her Mama.  I remember those "sleep deprived" early days....but that time passes so quickly.  Now we have trouble even getting our boys up in the morning.  Thanks for sharing your first week....I've been thinking of you.

@ Jane, you are right, she is trying to be the headmaster. LOL
@ Ginny, can I give her antlers etc. while she is still so young? Do antlers have marrow type material in it that would be too much for her digestive system? I will be out buying today, if it is ok.

Oh how fun and busy those first few weeks are!  She is a beauty and remember - you are the boss so if she won't walk and you give in "what has she just taught you"?  LOL

Oh, how I remember the pain of those "shark on 4 legs" days! She is absolutely gorgeous! So glad you found each other!

What a beautiful girl--you should get her some modeling jobs! Look at that cute spot on her nose and those speckled paw pads!!

The nipping is really something, isn't it? I have raised litters of as many as 9 pups at my house and entering the room was a bit like swimming with pirañas! It will subside but only with a lot of work! Did I mention cow hooves (plain with no filling) or bully sticks? Healthy choices that can tire her out and help her with her need to chew. Nylabones just aren't that interesting! Also elk or deer antlers are good. They have these things at feed stores usually. I can get them all at a store here called Agway.

She is just beautiful. Sounds like it is puppy normal at your house :) I really don't think a puppy can hold it all night, so you are smart to get up with her. I love that you put her crate on your bed. LOL  They have a way of wrapping us around their little paws!!
