Lucy- 6 months old
Lucy is 6 months old. She weighs 21 pounds. The vet says she will probably gain another 2 or 3 pounds. We have decided that Lucy is really a barn dog in a designer coat. We have 3 fenced in acres here in Florida. She is free to run, dig holes, chase squirrels, follow my husband to the barn, and, of course, stick her nose into anything that is happening. She is hoping for a chance to steal, chew, dig, eat, or jump into the smallest puddle of water. Our yard looks like a war zone. Critters are not as much a threat as the pot holes left by Lucy looking for who knows what. I'm hoping for oil. We daily have to hose her off. Thankfully, she thinks this is really fun. She will do anything to get into water. We have a small tub for her on the deck. If you have read my other blogs, you know Lucy is a water dish diver. She still is, and will stand in the tub and work for 5 minutes to empty it. All we can do is laugh at her.
The vet- Both in Maine and in Florida, the vets were not familiar with the minature Australian doodle. Lucy is a sweetie. So, she charms everyone at the vet's office. They all come to see her because they are not aware that a doodle can be as small as she is, and all who met her fall ln love with her. I feel like a proud Mom..
Nightly chores - Lucy now will sit quietly while we untangle the burrs from her coat. Whatever happend to my notion of the quiet couch potato dog?
New food - Royal Canin Veterinay Diet. This is a natural food I get at my vet. It requires a prescription here. The vet really likes this food and so does Lucy. Let's see, Lucy has vitamens, eye wipes, toothpaste, bug stuff, and heartworm pills. No, wonder I feel like a new mother with a diaper bag.
Thoughts - We waited along time to get another dog. Lucy has given us more love, laughs, happiness than we could have imagined. She is a loveable pooch with a twinkle in her eye that warns us that she will win the dash from one room to another after she has stolen my favorite slipper or Jerry's new sneaker. Not one of my coasters has survived. Who cares, it's been well worth it !!!!!
