UPDATE:SEE MY LATEST COMMENT FOR TODAY'S CLOSE-UPS!
Wow--what a long two days--Lyric's labor started at around 12 am on Wednesday Feb 6th--she kept me up all night (didn't want to leave her alone just in case) and then I stayed with her all thru the day on Wednesday--it continued into the wee hours of Thursday morning--and she paced and panted but no progress....finally at 2 am, I said"OK Lyric, let's get in the whelping box and get this started". I went in and sat with her in the box and within 10 minutes her water broke--it is as if she was waiting for me to tell her what to do!
The first pup was born by 2:15 am--a lovely apricot female and then 5 more followed until 6:30 AM--3 boys, 3 girls--2 champagne colored, all others shades of apricot--so.... where is #7? We could clearly see 7 on the Xray--we waited and waited--Lyric rested comfortably while the pups ate and we saw a minor push now and then, but no pup--we were starting to get a bit concerned about this last pup--actually a LOT concerned and finally gave Lyric some oxytocin to increase the strength of her contractions at noon--10 hours after this all started. !5 minutes later, a beautiful healthy male pup came into view--PHEW!!!!!!! Lucky #7!! The breeder and I both cried --we were so happy to see that all was well...and everyone is doing well!
Here are some early pics!

My rose nose is my miracle pup--#7--I love him too-he is so calm...I guess he needed patience in order to wait that long to be born!
What a beautiful litter. Just beautiful. Wow! And the pictures are so different that the day before.
Congratulations to you too, Ginny. You are doing a fantastic job
Lyric is so devoted...for about three weeks, then I have to take over, except for the nursing--she gives them 5 minutes, then she is outta there! But right now, she won't leave them any longer than it takes her to go out to relieve herself. I have to put the food under her mouth while she lies with the pups and I have to bring the water bowl to her--I am her handmaiden! I give her massages while she lays there---it is remarkable how much they change when the hormones kick in.....this is a dog that likes to guard the property, but if she has new pups, wild horses couldn't drag her away from that whelping box.
Beautiful babies! And, Lyric seems to be a good mom.
I'm so glad to hear that all went well with Lyric's delivery, although I was holding my breath while reading about that last little guy taking so long to arrive! Lyric looks like she has a tired smile on her face! I'll bet you had the same look! LOL Congrats to all of you and the little ones are just precious!
